Key Features:

2. Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before installing and using the Thule Interstate Cargo Bag. Failure to follow these instructions can result in property damage, personal injury, or voiding of the product warranty.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before proceeding with installation.

4. Setup & Installation

The Thule Interstate Cargo Bag is designed for easy installation on vehicles equipped with a roof rack system.

4.1 Preparing the Bag

  1. Unpack the cargo bag from its stuff sack.
  2. Unfold the bag and lay it flat on a clean, dry surface.
  3. Ensure the zipper is fully closed before placing it on the vehicle.

4.2 Attaching to Vehicle Roof Rack

The bag is compatible with Thule rack systems, round bars, and most factory racks.

  1. Carefully place the empty cargo bag onto your vehicle's roof rack, centering it as much as possible. Ensure the padded base is facing down to protect your vehicle's finish.
  2. Locate the heavy-duty, double-stitched webbing straps on the cargo bag. These straps are designed to loop around your roof rack crossbars or side rails.
  3. Thread each strap securely around the crossbar or side rail and fasten it according to the strap's buckle mechanism. Ensure the straps are not twisted.
  4. Tighten all straps firmly to eliminate slack. The bag should be snug against the roof rack and not shift when pushed.
  5. Double-check all attachment points to ensure they are secure before loading the bag.

5. Operation

5.1 Loading the Cargo Bag

  1. Unzip the three-sided zipper to open the bag. The large storm flaps will help keep the interior dry during loading, even in light rain.
  2. Place items inside the bag, distributing weight evenly. Place heavier items towards the center and bottom.
  3. Avoid overfilling the bag. Ensure the zipper can close easily without excessive strain.
  4. For optimal weather resistance, consider placing sensitive items in additional waterproof bags or containers inside the cargo bag.

5.2 Securing Cargo

  1. Once loaded, close the three-sided zipper completely. Ensure the storm flap covers the zipper entirely.
  2. Tighten the twin compression straps located on the bag. These straps help to compress the cargo, reduce shifting, and maintain the bag's aerodynamic shape, even in wind.
  3. Re-check all roof rack attachment straps to ensure they are still tight and secure after loading.
