3. Setup and Installation
The Lock'er Down Console Safe is designed for straightforward installation into your vehicle's existing console. Installation typically takes only a few minutes.
Required Tools:
- Basic hand tools (e.g., wrench or socket set for bolts).
Installation Steps:
- Prepare Console: Ensure your vehicle's console is clear of any obstructions and clean the area where the safe will be placed.
- Position Safe: Carefully lower the console safe into the existing console opening. Ensure it aligns correctly with the factory bolt holes.
- Secure with Bolts: Use the provided bolts to secure the safe to the vehicle's console. It is crucial not to overtighten the bolts, as this can cause the safe's door to flex and prevent the spring-assisted mechanism from opening properly. Tighten until snug, then test the door operation. If the door does not open freely, slightly loosen the bolts until it functions correctly.
- Check Fitment: Verify that the safe is securely mounted and does not rattle. If rattling occurs, check bolt tightness and ensure proper seating.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your console safe, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Safe door does not open freely or flexes. | Installation bolts are overtightened. | Slightly loosen the installation bolts until the door operates smoothly. Test operation after each adjustment. |
| Safe rattles after installation. | Bolts are not sufficiently tightened or safe is not seated properly. | Ensure all installation bolts are snug. Check that the safe is fully seated in the console opening. If bolts are too long and protrude, consider using shorter bolts or appropriate spacers/washers. |
| Combination lock is stuck or not responding. | Incorrect combination entered, or internal mechanism issue. | Double-check the combination. Ensure dials are precisely aligned. If the issue persists, contact Lock'er Down customer support for assistance. Avoid forcing the lock. |
| Spring-assisted hinge not working. | Hinge mechanism obstructed or damaged. | Inspect hinges for debris or damage. Apply lubricant if stiff. If damaged, contact customer support. |
