This manual provides instructions for the safe and effective use of your Monster AV 550 G+ PowerCenter. This device is designed to protect your electronic equipment from power surges and optimize energy consumption through its GreenPower Plus technology.
Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation, and retain it for future reference.
2. Important Safety Information
- Electrical Hazard: Do not open the PowerCenter casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Indoor Use Only: This device is intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Do not expose to moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Grounding: Ensure the PowerCenter is plugged into a properly grounded outlet. Do not use with ungrounded adapters.
- Overloading: Do not exceed the electrical ratings of the PowerCenter or the wall outlet. Overloading can cause fire or electric shock.
- Cable Management: Route power cords safely to prevent tripping hazards and damage.
- Socket Compatibility: This product features specific socket types. Verify compatibility with your region's electrical plugs before use. (Note: Some users have reported regional socket type discrepancies.)
3. Product Features
The Monster AV 550 G+ PowerCenter offers advanced protection and energy-saving capabilities:
- Surge Protection: Provides protection against power surges with automatic mains disconnection and an acoustic alarm for surge events.
- Monster GreenPower Plus: Intelligently detects the standby power consumption of your primary device (e.g., TV) and automatically switches off power to other connected controlled sockets (Master-Slave function) to save energy.
- Dual Mode Plus: Offers enhanced protection for your home theater equipment.
- Multiple Outlets: Features 6 protected AC outlets for various electronic devices.
- Coaxial Protection: Includes 1 coaxial connection for surge protection of satellite or cable connections.
- Insurance Protection: Backed by a €150,000 insurance policy protecting against damage to properly connected devices.
4. Setup and Connection
- Placement: Place the PowerCenter on a flat, stable surface, away from heat sources, moisture, and direct sunlight.
- Power Connection: Plug the PowerCenter's power cord into a standard, grounded wall outlet.
- Main Device Connection (Master Socket): Identify the "Master" socket (often labeled for TV or similar primary device). Plug your main device (e.g., television, receiver) into this socket.
- Controlled Device Connection (Slave Sockets): Plug your peripheral devices (e.g., DVD/Blu-ray player, game console, sound system) into the "Controlled Sockets" or "Slave Sockets." These sockets will be controlled by the Master device's power state.
- Always On Sockets: If available, plug devices that require continuous power (e.g., DVR, modem) into "Always On" sockets.
- Coaxial Connection: For satellite or cable protection, connect your incoming coaxial cable to the "IN" port on the PowerCenter and then connect a short coaxial cable from the "OUT" port to your TV or set-top box.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
Locate the main power switch on the PowerCenter. Press it to the "ON" position to supply power to all connected devices. The "PROTECTION ON" indicator light should illuminate, confirming active surge protection. Press the switch to "OFF" to cut power.
5.2 GreenPower Plus Functionality
The GreenPower Plus feature automatically manages power to your peripheral devices:
- When your main device (plugged into the Master socket) is turned on, power will be supplied to the controlled sockets.
- When your main device is turned off or enters a low-power standby mode, the GreenPower Plus system will detect this and automatically cut power to the controlled sockets, saving energy.
- Devices plugged into "Always On" sockets will receive continuous power regardless of the Master device's state.
5.3 Surge Protection Indicator
The "PROTECTION ON" indicator light confirms that the surge protection circuitry is active. If this light goes out, it indicates that the surge protection has been compromised, likely due to a significant power surge. In this event, the PowerCenter may no longer provide surge protection, and it should be replaced.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the PowerCenter from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and the PowerCenter for any signs of damage, such as frayed wires or cracks in the casing. If damage is found, discontinue use and replace the unit.
- Surge Protection Status: Regularly check the "PROTECTION ON" indicator light to ensure surge protection is active.
