Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MOXF8.

  • Key Care: Keep the keys clean and free from dust. Avoid spilling liquids on the keyboard.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check the official Yamaha website for firmware updates. Keeping your MOXF8's firmware up-to-date can improve performance and add new features.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the MOXF8 in a dust-free environment, preferably covered with a dust cover.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your MOXF8.

  • No Sound:
    • Check if the volume knob is turned up.
    • Ensure audio cables are securely connected to the correct output jacks and to your amplifier/mixer.
    • Verify that your amplifier/mixer is powered on and its volume is adjusted.
    • If using headphones, ensure they are fully plugged into the PHONES jack.
    • Check the selected voice; some voices might have very low default volume or be muted.
  • No MIDI/USB Communication with Computer:
    • Ensure the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver is correctly installed on your computer.
    • Verify the USB cable is securely connected to both the MOXF8 and your computer.
    • Check your DAW's preferences to ensure the MOXF8 is selected as the MIDI input/output device.
    • Restart both the MOXF8 and your computer.
  • Keys Feel Stiff or Make Noise:
    • The MOXF8 features a Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard, which naturally has a heavier feel than unweighted keyboards. This is normal operation.
    • If keys are making unusual mechanical noises, ensure the instrument is on a stable surface. If the issue persists, contact Yamaha support.
