5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Soleplate
To clean the stainless steel soleplate, use a damp soft cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or metallic scouring pads, as these can damage the soleplate's nonstick coating.
5.2 Self-Cleaning System
Regularly use the self-cleaning function to flush out mineral deposits and impurities from the steam chambers. Refer to the specific instructions in your iron's quick start guide for the exact procedure.
5.3 Anti-Calc System
The integrated anti-calc system helps to prevent limescale buildup, especially when using tap water. For optimal performance, follow the self-cleaning instructions regularly.
5.4 Emptying the Water Tank
After each use, unplug the iron and allow it to cool. Empty any remaining water from the tank to prevent mineral buildup and prolong the life of the iron.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your iron, please consult the following common problems and solutions:
- Iron does not heat up: Ensure the iron is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check if the auto shut-off has activated; move the iron to reactivate.
- No steam or insufficient steam: Check if the water tank is filled. Ensure the temperature setting is appropriate for steam (steam is typically available at higher temperature settings). Press the steam trigger or burst of steam button.
- Water leaking or spitting: Ensure the temperature is set high enough for steam. The anti-drip system prevents leaking at lower temperatures, but if the iron is too cool for steam, water may escape. Do not overfill the water tank.
- Brown stains on fabric: This may indicate mineral buildup. Perform the self-cleaning procedure. Ensure you are using appropriate water (distilled water is recommended in hard water areas).
