Setup
The Weber Q1000 grill comes fully assembled, simplifying the initial setup process. Follow these steps to prepare your grill for first use:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the grill from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
- Placement: Place the grill on a stable, level, non-combustible surface outdoors, away from any flammable materials or structures. Ensure adequate clearance from walls and other objects.
- LP Cylinder Connection:

- Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
- Screw a new 14.1 or 16.4 oz. disposable LP cylinder (sold separately) into the regulator connection on the side of the grill. Hand-tighten only. Do not overtighten.
- Check for gas leaks by applying a soapy water solution to the connection point. Bubbles indicate a leak. If a leak is detected, tighten the connection or replace the cylinder. Do not operate the grill if a leak is present.
- Burn-Off: Before cooking for the first time, operate the grill on high for 15 minutes with the lid closed to burn off any manufacturing residues.
Operating the Grill
Lighting the Grill:
- Ensure the LP cylinder is securely connected and the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
- Open the grill lid.
- Turn the control knob to the "START/HIGH" position.
- Immediately press and hold the push-button igniter.

- Once the burner ignites, release the igniter button.
- If the burner does not light within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to "OFF", wait 5 minutes for gas to dissipate, and repeat the lighting procedure.
Cooking with the Grill:
- Preheating: Close the lid and allow the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes on high. The porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates will retain heat effectively.

- Temperature Control: Adjust the heat by turning the infinite control burner valve. You can achieve temperatures from low to high, suitable for various cooking needs.

- Lid Use: Keep the lid closed as much as possible during cooking to maintain consistent temperatures and enhance flavor.
- Griddle Option: The split grates allow for replacing one grate with a Q 1000-series compatible griddle (sold separately) for alternative cooking methods like breakfast items.
Shutting Down the Grill:
- When finished cooking, turn the control knob to the "OFF" position.
- Allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning or moving.
- Disconnect the LP cylinder when the grill is not in use for extended periods.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Weber Q1000 grill.
- Cooking Grates: After each use, once the grates have cooled slightly but are still warm, brush them clean with a grill brush. For deeper cleaning, the porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates can be washed with warm soapy water.
- Catch Pan: The grill features a removable catch pan for easy grease management. Regularly remove and clean the catch pan to prevent grease buildup and flare-ups.
