1. Introduction
The Lafayette SUBHEAD is a robust and versatile LED flashlight designed for various applications, including underwater use. Featuring a powerful 170 lumen Luxeon Rebel LED, it provides bright illumination and includes an emergency flashing mode. Its durable construction, magnetic rotary switch, and resistance to corrosion and chemicals make it an ideal tool for demanding environments. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your SUBHEAD flashlight.
2. Safety Information
- Battery Safety: Use only specified 1.5V AAA Alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Water Immersion: Ensure the battery compartment is securely sealed before submerging the flashlight. Do not exceed the maximum immersion depth of 30 meters.
- Light Beam: Do not look directly into the LED light beam, as it can cause temporary vision impairment.
- Maintenance: Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the flashlight beyond the instructions provided in this manual. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Storage: Store the flashlight in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After use, especially after submersion, rinse the flashlight with fresh water to remove salt or debris. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- O-Ring Care: Periodically inspect the O-ring seal in the battery compartment for cracks or damage. Keep it clean and lightly lubricated with silicone grease to maintain water resistance.
- Battery Replacement: Replace all four AAA batteries simultaneously when the light becomes dim or stops functioning. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
- Corrosion and Chemical Resistance: The flashlight is designed to be resistant to corrosion and certain chemicals. However, avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals that may damage the housing or seals.
