Supersonic SC251 Personal CD Player

Introduction

Setup

1. Powering the Device (Batteries)

The SC251 Personal CD Player requires two (2) 'AA' batteries for operation (not included). Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the CD player.
  2. Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  3. Insert two 'AA' batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.

2. Connecting Earphones

The SC251 comes with high-quality stereo earphones. To connect them:

  1. Locate the 3.5mm headphone jack on the side of the CD player.
  2. Insert the earphone plug firmly into the headphone jack.

Note: For optimal sound quality and to prevent damage, use only the provided earphones or compatible 3.5mm stereo headphones.

Operating Instructions

1. Loading a CD

  1. Gently press the 'OPEN' button or slide the latch to open the CD compartment lid.
  2. Place a CD (CD-R/CD-RW compatible) onto the center spindle with the label side facing up. Ensure the CD is seated properly.
  3. Close the CD compartment lid firmly until it clicks.

2. Basic Playback Controls

  • PLAY/PAUSE (►/−−) Button: Press once to start playback. Press again to pause. Press again to resume playback.
  • STOP (■) Button: Press to stop playback.
  • SKIP FORWARD (►►) Button: Press once to skip to the next track. Press and hold to fast-forward within a track.
  • SKIP BACKWARD (◄◄) Button: Press once to skip to the beginning of the current track. Press twice to skip to the previous track. Press and hold to fast-rewind within a track.

3. Volume Control

Adjust the volume using the dedicated volume dial or buttons, typically located on the side of the unit. Rotate or press to increase or decrease the sound level.

4. Playback Modes (Random, Repeat, Program)

The SC251 supports various playback modes:

  • Repeat: Press the 'MODE' or 'REPEAT' button to cycle through repeat options (e.g., repeat current track, repeat all tracks).
  • Random: Press the 'MODE' or 'RANDOM' button to play tracks in a random order.
  • Program: Use the 'PROGRAM' button to create a custom playback sequence of tracks. Refer to the on-screen display (if available) for programming steps.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Unit

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your CD player:

  • Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaning kit. Never touch the lens directly.

2. Battery Care

  • Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Replace all batteries at the same time with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SC251 Personal CD Player, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure batteries are inserted correctly with proper polarity.
    • Replace old batteries with fresh 'AA' batteries.
  • CD Not Playing / Skipping:
    • Ensure the CD is clean and free of scratches or smudges. Wipe gently from the center outwards with a soft, lint-free cloth.
    • Make sure the CD is properly seated in the compartment.
    • Close the CD compartment lid completely.
    • Avoid excessive movement of the player during playback, as this is a personal CD player and not designed for high-impact activities.
  • No Sound:
    • Check that the earphones are securely plugged into the headphone jack.
    • Adjust the volume level. Ensure it is not set to minimum.
    • Test with another pair of earphones to rule out faulty earphones.
  • Digital Readout Not Working:
    • This may indicate a unit malfunction. Ensure batteries are fresh. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
