5. Operating Instructions
Once the attachment is assembled and securely connected to your food processor, you can begin processing ingredients.
- Prepare Ingredients: Cut ingredients (meat, vegetables, etc.) into pieces that will fit easily into the feed tube. Remove any bones, gristle, or tough sinews from meat.
- Place Receptacle: Position a bowl or container under the output of the grinder to collect the processed ingredients.
- Power On: Plug in your DOMO food processor and turn it on to the appropriate speed setting as recommended in your food processor's manual for attachments.
- Feed Ingredients: Carefully place prepared ingredients into the food tray. Use the food pusher to gently guide the ingredients down the feed tube. Never use your fingers or other utensils to push food into the grinder.
- Process: Allow the grinder to process the ingredients. Do not overload the machine. If the grinder jams, turn off the food processor immediately, unplug it, and clear the obstruction.
- Finish: Once all ingredients are processed, turn off the food processor and unplug it.
Tip:
- For best results when grinding meat, ensure the meat is chilled but not frozen.
- Experiment with the three grinding discs to achieve your desired consistency for different recipes.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your meat grinder attachment.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the food processor from the power outlet before cleaning.
- Disassemble: Carefully disassemble the meat grinder attachment in reverse order of assembly.
- Remove Residue: Use a brush or spatula to remove any large food residues from all parts.
- Wash Parts: Wash all removable parts (grinder housing, auger, blade, discs, retaining ring, food tray, food pusher) in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Dry Thoroughly: Dry all parts immediately and thoroughly to prevent rust, especially the metal components. Air drying is not recommended for metal parts.
- Storage: Store the clean, dry components in a safe place.
CAUTION: The cutting blade is sharp. Handle with extreme care during cleaning.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Grinder is jammed or stops working. | Overloaded with ingredients; hard object (e.g., bone) stuck; ingredients not cut small enough. | Turn off and unplug the food processor. Disassemble the grinder and remove the obstruction. Cut ingredients into smaller pieces. |
| Meat is not grinding properly (mushing instead of mincing). | Meat is too warm; blade is dull or incorrectly installed; wrong grinding disc selected. | Ensure meat is well-chilled. Check blade orientation and sharpness. Select a finer grinding disc if necessary. |
| Attachment is difficult to assemble/disassemble. | Parts are not aligned correctly; food residue build-up. | Refer to the assembly instructions. Ensure all parts are clean and dry. Do not force parts. |
