Image: Close-up of an 8-inch in-ceiling speaker, showing the woofer and tweeter assembly, and the removable grille.
The RockvilIe HC85 8" in-ceiling speakers are 2-way speakers with a polypropylene cone woofer and a Mylar dome tweeter. They feature high-quality spring-loaded push terminals for easy connection and paintable flush mount grills for seamless integration into your ceiling.
Setup
1. Speaker Installation
The ceiling speakers require a cut-out diameter of 9.3 inches and a mounting depth of 3.03 inches. Ensure there is sufficient space and no obstructions in the ceiling before cutting. For optimal sound, position speakers equidistant from the primary listening area.
- Determine the desired location for each speaker in your ceiling.
- Using the provided template (if any, or measure carefully), cut a circular hole in the ceiling.
- Run speaker wire from the amplifier location to each speaker opening. Use appropriate gauge wire for the distance.
- Connect the speaker wires to the spring-loaded push terminals on the speaker, ensuring correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- Insert the speaker into the cut-out. The mounting clips will secure the speaker in place.
- Attach the paintable grille to the speaker.

2. Amplifier Connections
Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
- Connect Speakers:
- For the main left and right speakers (the included ceiling speakers), connect the speaker wires to the Banana Binding Post terminals on the rear panel. Ensure positive (+) from the amplifier connects to positive (+) on the speaker, and negative (-) to negative (-).
- If using additional surround sound speakers, connect them to the Push Button terminals for Center and Surround L/R.
- Connect Audio Sources:
- For external audio devices (CD player, DVD player, game console, etc.), use RCA cables to connect their audio outputs to the corresponding RCA Audio Inputs (Aux, MP3, Main, DVD) on the amplifier's rear panel.
- For portable devices like smartphones or tablets, you can use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect to the MP3 Input on the front panel, or use Bluetooth (see Operating Instructions).
- Connect FM Antenna: Attach the included FM antenna to the FM Antenna Input terminal. Extend the antenna for better reception.
- Power Connection: Before plugging in, verify the Voltage Selector switch on the rear panel is set to your local voltage (110V or 220V). Then, connect the power cord to the amplifier's power input and plug it into a wall outlet.
