4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Lens

  1. Remove the rear lens cap (LR-2) and the camera body cap.
  2. Align the white mounting index mark on the lens barrel with the white mounting index mark on the camera body.
  3. Insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the lens.

4.2 Detaching the Lens

  1. While pressing the lens release button on the camera body, rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it stops.
  2. Carefully remove the lens from the camera body.
  3. Attach the rear lens cap (LR-2) to the lens and the body cap to the camera to protect them from dust and damage.

4.3 Attaching the Lens Hood (LH-66)

Align the red dot on the lens hood with the red dot on the front of the lens. Rotate the hood clockwise until it clicks into place. To reverse the hood for storage, align the red dots and rotate counter-clockwise to remove, then reattach in reverse orientation.

5. Operating the Lens

5.1 Zooming

Rotate the zoom ring to adjust the focal length between 12mm (wide-angle) and 40mm (telephoto). The lens maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout this range.

5.2 Focusing (Manual Focus Clutch)

The lens features a manual focus clutch mechanism. To switch to manual focus, pull the focus ring back towards the camera body. This will reveal a distance scale and engage manual focus. Push the focus ring forward to return to autofocus mode.
