Setup and Installation

Attaching the Lens to Your Camera

  1. Ensure your camera is turned off before attaching or detaching any lens.
  2. Remove the body cap from your camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
  3. Align the mounting mark (usually a white dot) on the lens with the corresponding mounting mark on your camera body.
  4. Insert the lens into the camera's lens mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the lens.
  5. Once attached, you can remove the front lens cap.

Detaching the Lens from Your Camera

  1. Turn off your camera.
  2. Attach the front lens cap to the lens.
  3. While pressing the lens release button on the camera body, rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it detaches.
  4. Immediately attach the rear lens cap to the lens and the body cap to the camera to protect the internal components from dust.

Operating the Lens

Focus Mode Switch (A/M)

The lens features an A/M switch for selecting the focus mode:

  • A (Autofocus): For automatic focusing. You can still manually adjust focus by rotating the focus ring after autofocus has been achieved.
  • M (Manual Focus): For manual focusing only. Rotate the focus ring to adjust focus.

Vibration Reduction (VR) Switch (ON/OFF)

The VR switch controls the Vibration Reduction function:

  • ON: Activates Vibration Reduction. Recommended for handheld shooting to reduce blur caused by camera shake.
  • OFF: Deactivates Vibration Reduction. Recommended when using a tripod or when shooting at very fast shutter speeds.

Zooming

To adjust the focal length, rotate the zoom ring on the lens. The markings on the lens indicate the current focal length in millimeters (e.g., 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 140mm).

Minimum Focus Distance

This lens can focus as close as 0.45 meters (1.48 feet) from the focal plane at all zoom positions, allowing for detailed close-up shots.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens surface.
  • Dust Removal: Use a blower brush to remove dust from the lens surface. Avoid wiping dry lens elements as this can scratch the coating.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the lens with both front and rear caps attached in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Consider using a desiccant to prevent mold growth in humid environments.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the lens to strong impacts. Do not touch the glass elements with your fingers.

Lens not attaching to cameraIncorrect alignment; obstruction on mount.Ensure mounting marks are aligned; check for debris on lens or camera mount.
Dust or spots visible in photosDust on lens elements or camera sensor.Clean lens elements with a blower brush and lens cloth. If spots persist, clean camera sensor (refer to camera manual or professional service).
