6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your WMF Lono Electric Kettle.

6.1 Exterior Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the Cromargan stainless steel finish. Ensure the power base and electrical connections remain dry.

6.2 Interior Cleaning and Descaling

Over time, limescale deposits may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance and taste. The kettle features a removable and washable limescale filter.

  1. Filter Cleaning: The limescale filter can be removed from the spout for cleaning. Rinse it under running water or gently brush it to remove deposits. Ensure it is properly reinserted before use.
  2. Descaling: For thorough descaling, use a commercially available descaling agent suitable for electric kettles. Follow the instructions provided with the descaling agent. Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Fill the kettle with the solution, let it stand for an hour (do not boil), then discard and rinse thoroughly several times with fresh water.
