1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Tecsun X3. This device combines a portable FM radio, an MP3 player, and a Hi-Fi speaker into a compact, durable aluminum case. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the X3 features Easy Tuning Method (ETM) technology for radio operation and supports MP3 playback via a built-in Micro SD card slot or USB connection. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Tecsun X3.

2. Product Overview
2.1 Package Contents

2.2 Controls and Ports
Familiarize yourself with the various controls and connection points on your Tecsun X3.

- Power/Mode Switch: Located on the side, this switch turns the unit ON/OFF and selects between FM Radio and MP3 Player modes.
- Volume Buttons (+/-): Adjust the audio output level.
- Numeric Keypad (0-9): Used for direct frequency input in FM mode or track selection in MP3 mode.
- Play/Pause Button: Controls playback in MP3 mode.
- Previous/Next Track Buttons: Navigate between tracks in MP3 mode or stations in FM mode.
- ETM Button: Activates the Easy Tuning Method for FM radio.
- Micro SD Card Slot: Insert a Micro SD card for MP3 playback.
- USB Port (DC 5V): For charging the battery and connecting to a computer for MP3 playback.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the provided Lithium-ion battery (BL-5B type) according to the polarity markings (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Charging the Battery
The Tecsun X3 is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.
- Connect the small end of the USB charging cable to the DC 5V USB port on the side of the X3.
- Connect the standard USB end of the cable to a USB wall charger (not included) or a computer's USB port.
- The charging indicator light will illuminate. Charging typically takes a few hours.
- Once fully charged, the indicator light may change color or turn off, depending on the unit. Disconnect the charger.
A full charge provides up to 20 hours of continuous operation.
3.3 Inserting a Micro SD Card
To use the MP3 player function, a Micro SD card (not included) with audio files is required.
- Ensure the unit is powered off.
- Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the unit.
- Gently insert the Micro SD card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is oriented correctly.
- To remove, gently push the card inward until it clicks and ejects.
The Tecsun X3 supports Micro SD cards up to 8GB capacity.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off and Mode Selection
Slide the Power/Mode switch on the side of the unit to the desired position:
- OFF: Powers off the unit.
- MP3: Powers on the unit in MP3 player mode.
- FM: Powers on the unit in FM radio mode.
4.2 FM Radio Operation
- Slide the Power/Mode switch to FM.
- Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
- Automatic Tuning (ETM): Press the ETM button. The radio will automatically scan and store all available FM stations into memory. This process may take a few minutes.
- Manual Tuning: Use the Previous/Next Track buttons to fine-tune the frequency.
- Direct Frequency Entry: Use the numeric keypad to enter the desired FM frequency (e.g., 102.7 for 102.7 MHz) and press the Play/Pause button to confirm.
- Recalling Stored Stations: After ETM scan, use the Previous/Next Track buttons to cycle through the stored stations.
- Adjust volume using the Volume +/- buttons.
FM Frequency Range: 64 - 108 MHz.
4.3 MP3 Player Operation
Ensure a Micro SD card with MP3 files is inserted or the unit is connected to a computer via USB.
- Slide the Power/Mode switch to MP3.
- The unit will automatically begin playing MP3 files from the Micro SD card.
- Play/Pause: Press the Play/Pause button to pause or resume playback.
- Next/Previous Track: Use the Previous/Next Track buttons to skip to the next or previous song.
- Direct Track Selection: Use the numeric keypad to enter the track number and press the Play/Pause button to play.
- Adjust volume using the Volume +/- buttons.
When connected to a computer via USB, the X3 can function as an external speaker for your computer's audio output.
4.4 Using Earphones
For private listening, plug the included earphones into the 3.5mm earphone jack on the side of the unit. The internal speaker will automatically mute.
5. Maintenance
- Keep the unit dry. Avoid exposure to moisture or liquids.
- Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Avoid extreme temperatures. Store the unit in a cool, dry place.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the unit. This will void the warranty.
- If the unit will not be used for an extended period, fully charge the battery and then store it separately if possible, or periodically recharge the unit to maintain battery health.
6. Troubleshooting
