4. Safety Information
Read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Ensure the heating system is depressurized and cooled down before attempting installation or maintenance.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified professional if you are unsure.
- Do not expose the thermostatic head to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit yourself. Contact qualified service personnel.
- Keep out of reach of children.
5. Setup and Installation
The Buderus Logafix BD-1 thermostatic head is designed for easy installation on compatible radiator valves. Ensure the valve body is clean and free from debris before attachment.
- Ensure the heating system is turned off and the radiator is cool.
- If replacing an old thermostatic head, carefully unscrew and remove it.
- Align the Buderus Logafix BD-1 thermostatic head with the valve body. The head typically connects via a flange connection or a screw-on mechanism.
- Gently push the head onto the valve and secure it by tightening the connection nut or ring until it is firm. Do not overtighten.
- Once installed, you can turn the heating system back on.

6. Operating Instructions
The thermostatic head allows you to set the desired room temperature by rotating the dial.

Figure 6.1: Front view of the Buderus Logafix BD-1 Thermostatic Head, showing the Buderus logo and the temperature setting dial with numerical and snowflake indicators. The dial can be rotated to adjust the desired room temperature.
- Temperature Scale: The dial features a scale typically ranging from a snowflake symbol (frost protection, approx. 6 °C) to numbers indicating higher temperatures, up to 28 °C.
- Setting Temperature: Rotate the dial to align the desired temperature setting with the indicator mark on the head.
- Frost Protection: Set the dial to the snowflake symbol (*) to activate frost protection, which maintains a minimum temperature (around 6 °C) to prevent pipes from freezing.
- Neutral Position: The head also features a neutral position, typically marked '0', which fully closes the valve and stops heat flow to the radiator.
- Optimal Use: For optimal energy efficiency, avoid setting the thermostat to maximum unless necessary. Adjust the setting based on your comfort level and external temperature.
7. Maintenance
The Buderus Logafix BD-1 Thermostatic Head requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the thermostatic head with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the surface.
- Dust Accumulation: Ensure that dust does not accumulate around the sensor area (usually located at the back or bottom of the head), as this can affect temperature readings.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check that the head is securely attached to the valve body.
8. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your thermostatic head, consider the following common solutions:
- Radiator not heating:
- Check if the thermostatic head is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperature.
- Ensure the valve pin is not stuck. Try rotating the head from maximum to minimum several times to free the pin.
- Verify that the main heating system is operational and supplying hot water to the radiator.
- Radiator too hot/cold:
- The thermostatic head might be obstructed by curtains, furniture, or other objects, preventing it from accurately sensing room temperature. Ensure clear airflow around the head.
- Recalibrate your comfort setting by adjusting the dial gradually.
- Head feels loose:
- Gently tighten the connection nut or ring. Do not overtighten.
If the problem persists, contact a qualified heating technician or Buderus customer support.
