Setup and Programming
Before initial use, it is recommended to reset the timer and then set the current time and location.
1. Initial Reset
Insert a paperclip or a similar pointed object into the small "RESET" pinhole located on the front of the timer. Press gently until the display clears. This will erase all previous settings.
2. Setting Current Time and Day
- Plug the timer into a standard 120V AC wall outlet.
- Press the SET button once. The display will show the hour flashing.
- Use the +/AUTO and -/RDM buttons to adjust the hour (AM/PM indicator will change accordingly).
- Press SET again to confirm the hour and move to minutes. Adjust minutes using +/AUTO and -/RDM.
- Press SET again to confirm minutes and move to the day of the week. Adjust the day (e.g., MO, TU, WE) using +/AUTO and -/RDM.
- Press SET one more time to exit time setting mode.
3. Setting Astronomical Feature (Geographical Zone)
The astronomical feature automatically adjusts ON/OFF times based on sunrise and sunset for your location. You need to set your approximate geographical zone.
- From the current time display, press and hold the SET button for approximately 3 seconds until the display shows a flashing zone indicator (e.g., "N" for North, "M" for Mid, "S" for South).
- Use the +/AUTO and -/RDM buttons to select your approximate geographical zone (e.g., N for Northern US/Canada, M for Mid US, S for Southern US). Refer to the instruction manual for specific zone definitions if available.
- Press SET to confirm the zone. The display may then show options to adjust the offset for sunrise/sunset times (e.g., +/- hours/minutes). Use +/AUTO and -/RDM to fine-tune if necessary.
- Press SET to exit astronomical setting mode.
4. Programming ON/OFF Times
The timer allows for multiple ON/OFF programs. Each program can be set for specific days of the week or for sunrise/sunset.
- Press the SET button repeatedly until "PROG 1 ON" appears on the display.
- The hour will flash. Use +/AUTO and -/RDM buttons to set the desired ON hour. You can also select "SUNRISE" or "SUNSET" by pressing +/AUTO or -/RDM until it appears.
- Press SET to confirm the hour and move to minutes. Adjust minutes using +/AUTO and -/RDM.
- Press SET to confirm minutes and move to day selection. Use +/AUTO and -/RDM to cycle through day options (e.g., MO-SU, MO-FR, SA-SU, individual days).
- Press SET to confirm the ON time and day. The display will now show "PROG 1 OFF".
- Repeat steps 2-5 to set the desired OFF time for Program 1.
- Continue pressing SET to cycle through "PROG 2 ON", "PROG 2 OFF", etc., and program additional ON/OFF cycles as needed. The timer supports up to 7 ON/OFF programs.
- After programming all desired cycles, press SET until the current time display returns. Ensure the timer is in "AUTO" mode (indicated on the display) for programs to run automatically. If not, press +/AUTO to switch to AUTO mode.

Operating Modes
Automatic Mode (AUTO)
In AUTO mode, the timer will execute all programmed ON/OFF cycles, including those set for sunrise/sunset. The display will typically show "AUTO".
Manual Override (ON/OFF)
Pressing the ON/OFF button will manually toggle the power to the connected appliances, overriding the current program. The display will show "ON" or "OFF" instead of "AUTO". To return to automatic operation, press the +/AUTO button until "AUTO" is displayed.
Random Mode (RDM)
Random mode is designed to provide a security feature by varying the programmed ON/OFF times by a small, unpredictable margin (e.g., +/- 30 minutes). This makes it appear as if someone is home. To activate:
- Ensure the timer is in AUTO mode.
- Press the -/RDM button. The display will show "RDM" or "RANDOM" along with "AUTO".
- To deactivate Random mode, press the -/RDM button again.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the timer with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse in water.
- Battery Backup: The timer contains an internal battery to retain settings during power outages or when unplugged. This battery is not user-replaceable. If the display is blank or settings are lost frequently, the battery may be depleted, indicating the unit may need replacement.
- Storage: Store the timer in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Timer display is blank. | No power to the unit; internal battery depleted. | Ensure the timer is securely plugged into a live outlet. If the problem persists, the internal battery may be at the end of its life, and the unit may need replacement. |
| Timer does not turn ON/OFF at programmed times. | Not in AUTO mode; incorrect program settings; manual override active. |
|
| Clock drifts or loses time frequently. | Internal clock malfunction; depleted internal battery. | Perform a full reset and reprogram the timer. If the issue continues, the internal battery may be failing, and the unit may require replacement. |
| Astronomical feature is inaccurate. | Incorrect geographical zone setting; no offset adjustment. | Re-enter the astronomical setting mode and verify the selected geographical zone. Adjust the sunrise/sunset offset if available and necessary for your specific location. |
