GRE 621535 Cover Roller for Raised Pools

Installation and Operation Manual

1. Introduction and Overview

This manual provides instructions for the assembly, installation, and operation of the GRE 621535 Cover Roller for raised pools. This product is designed to assist in the deployment and retrieval of isothermal pool covers using a crank mechanism, simplifying the process of covering and uncovering your pool.

The GRE 621535 model features aluminum telescopic tubes, which provide a lightweight, waterproof, and corrosion-resistant structure. It includes a pivoting axis for comfortable movement of the roller and hook-up straps with a universal hook-and-loop fastening system, compatible with most pool covers. This cover roller is suitable for raised pools with widths between 2.45 meters and 6.35 meters.

2. Product Components

Before beginning assembly, ensure all components are present and undamaged. The GRE 621535 Cover Roller typically includes the following parts:

  • Telescopic Aluminum Tubes (main roller shaft)
  • Crank Mechanism (for winding the cover)
  • Pivoting Axis Supports (end stands for the roller)
  • Hook-up Straps with Hook-and-Loop Fasteners (for attaching the cover to the roller)
  • Fasteners and Hardware (screws, bolts, etc., for assembly)

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up and install your GRE 621535 Cover Roller:

  1. Assemble the Roller Shaft: Connect the telescopic aluminum tubes to form the main roller shaft. Ensure they are securely fastened according to the included hardware instructions. Adjust the length of the shaft to match the width of your pool cover, ensuring it extends slightly beyond the cover's edges.
  2. Attach End Supports: Securely attach the pivoting axis supports to each end of the assembled roller shaft. These supports will rest on the edge of your raised pool.
  3. Position the Roller: Place the assembled cover roller at one end of your raised pool. Ensure the supports are stable and the roller is level.
  4. Attach Pool Cover: Lay your isothermal pool cover flat on the water. Attach the hook-up straps to the edge of the pool cover using the hook-and-loop fastening system. Distribute the straps evenly along the width of the cover.
  5. Connect Straps to Roller: Securely attach the other end of the hook-up straps to the main roller shaft. Ensure the straps are taut but not overly tight, allowing the cover to roll smoothly.

4. Operating Instructions

To operate your GRE 621535 Cover Roller:

  • To Cover the Pool: Gently pull the pool cover across the water until it fully extends over the pool surface. Ensure the cover is centered and evenly distributed.
  • To Uncover the Pool: Turn the crank mechanism clockwise (or as indicated) to wind the pool cover onto the roller shaft. Maintain a steady pace to ensure the cover rolls up smoothly and evenly. The pivoting axis allows for easy movement of the roller along the pool edge as the cover is retrieved.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life of your cover roller:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the aluminum tubes and supports with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent mineral buildup.
  • Strap Inspection: Regularly inspect the hook-up straps for wear, tears, or damage. Replace any damaged straps to ensure secure attachment of the pool cover.
  • Lubrication: If the crank mechanism becomes stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to moving parts.
  • Off-Season Storage: During the off-season, or when not in use for extended periods, it is recommended to disassemble the roller and store it in a dry, protected area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your cover roller, consider the following:

  • Cover Not Rolling Smoothly: Check if the roller shaft is level and properly aligned. Ensure the hook-up straps are evenly spaced and tensioned. Verify that the pool cover itself is free of wrinkles or obstructions.
  • Difficulty Turning Crank: Inspect the crank mechanism for any debris or corrosion. Apply lubricant if necessary. Ensure the cover is not excessively heavy or stuck.
  • Roller Instability: Confirm that the pivoting axis supports are securely placed on the pool edge and that all assembly fasteners are tightened.
