Setup

Unpacking and Inspection

Power Connection

Connect the supplied DC power cable to the radio's power input connector. Ensure the red wire connects to the positive (+) terminal of a 13.8V DC power source and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal. For vehicle installation, connect directly to the vehicle battery, avoiding the cigarette lighter socket.

Antenna Installation

Connect a suitable VHF antenna (134-174 MHz) to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. Use a high-quality coaxial cable with appropriate connectors. Ensure the antenna is properly tuned for the operating frequency range to prevent damage to the radio.

Mounting

Install the mobile mounting bracket in a secure location within your vehicle or at your base station. Ensure the location allows for proper ventilation and easy access to controls. Secure the radio to the bracket using the provided screws.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button to turn the radio on or off.
  2. Volume Control: Rotate the volume knob clockwise to increase the audio level and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
  3. Squelch Control: Adjust the squelch level to eliminate background noise when no signal is present. Rotate clockwise to increase squelch, counter-clockwise to decrease.

Channel Selection

Use the channel selector knob or up/down buttons to navigate through the programmed channels. The display will show the current channel number or name.

Transmitting and Receiving

To transmit, press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the microphone and speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to receive. Ensure the channel is clear before transmitting.
