2. Safety Information

Operating a gasoline generator involves potential hazards. Always follow these safety guidelines to prevent accidents, serious injury, or property damage.

  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Operate generators outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate indoors, in garages, or in partially enclosed areas.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are dry and properly insulated. Use ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) when operating in damp locations.
  • Fire Hazard: Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or allow open flames near the generator. Store fuel in approved containers away from heat sources.
  • Hot Surfaces: The generator engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid contact to prevent burns.
  • Noise Hazard: Prolonged exposure to high noise levels can cause hearing damage. Wear hearing protection when operating the generator.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator at all times.
  • Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with all controls and safety decals before operation.

4. Setup

Before starting the generator for the first time, perform the following setup steps.

4.1. Placement

  • Place the generator on a firm, level surface outdoors.
  • Ensure adequate clearance around the generator for ventilation and to prevent fire hazards.
  • Keep exhaust fumes directed away from people and buildings.

4.2. Add Engine Oil

The generator is shipped without engine oil. You must add the correct amount and type of oil before starting.

  1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface.
  2. Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick (typically near the engine).
  3. Unscrew and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  4. Carefully pour recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) into the oil fill opening until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  5. Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.

4.3. Add Fuel

Use fresh, unleaded gasoline (Super or Super Plus) with an octane rating of 87 or higher.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Locate the fuel cap on top of the fuel tank.
  3. Unscrew the fuel cap.
  4. Using a funnel, slowly add gasoline to the fuel tank, being careful not to overfill. Leave some space for fuel expansion.
  5. Securely replace the fuel cap.
  6. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to start and operate your EBERTH generator.

5.1. Starting the Engine

  1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface and all electrical loads are disconnected.
  2. Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
  3. Set the engine switch (ENG. SW) to "ON".
  4. If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position. If warm, set to "RUN".
  5. Grasp the recoil starter handle firmly and pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly and smoothly to start the engine.
  6. Once the engine starts, slowly move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
  7. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.2. Connecting Electrical Loads

  • Ensure the generator is running stably.
  • Plug your electrical devices into the appropriate 230V AC or 12V DC outlets.
  • Do not overload the generator. The maximum output is 3000 Watts, with a continuous output of 2850 Watts. Monitor the voltmeter to ensure stable operation.
  • If a circuit breaker trips, reduce the load, then reset the breaker.

5.3. Stopping the Engine

  1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
  2. Turn the engine switch (ENG. SW) to "OFF".
  3. Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.
