1. Introduction
The One Control OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop is a highly versatile programmable looper designed for guitar effects pedalboards. It allows musicians to create complex signal chains and recall them instantly, enhancing performance flexibility and sound management.
This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop.
2. Key Features
- 10 Switchable Effects Loops: Provides extensive options for pedalboard configuration.
- Series and Independent Loops: Loops 1-7 operate in series from a single main input, while loops 8, 9, and 10 feature independent external inputs for advanced routing.
- Direct Mode: Allows individual toggling of loops via dedicated footswitches.
- MIDI Integration: Enables control and synchronization with MIDI-compatible devices.
- Compact Design: Optimized for pedalboard space efficiency.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- One Control OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop Unit
- Power Adapter (if included in bundle)
- 4 x Patch Cables (as per bundle description)
- User Manual (this document)

4. Setup and Connections
Proper connection of the OC10 is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps to integrate the looper into your setup.
4.1 Power Connection
Connect the appropriate 9V DC power adapter (center negative) to the "9V IN" jack on the rear panel of the OC10. Ensure the power source meets the specified voltage and current requirements.
4.2 Audio Connections
The OC10 features multiple input and output jacks for flexible routing.

Figure 4.1: Rear panel of the One Control OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop, displaying various input, output, send, and return jacks for effects loops, MIDI IN/OUT/THRU, and power input.
- Main Input: Connect your guitar or the output of your first pedal to the "IN" jack.
- Main Output: Connect the "OUT-1" jack to your amplifier's input or the next device in your signal chain.
- Effects Loops (1-7): For each loop, connect the "SEND" jack to the input of your effect pedal and the "RETURN" jack to the output of the same pedal. These loops are in series.
- Independent Loops (8, 9, 10): These loops have dedicated "IN" and "OUT" jacks (e.g., IN8, OUT8). Use these for effects that require a separate input or for parallel routing.
- Tuner Output: Connect your tuner to the "TUNER" jack. This output is buffered.
4.3 MIDI Connections
The OC10 supports MIDI for advanced control and integration with other MIDI-enabled devices.
- MIDI IN: Connect a MIDI controller or interface here to send program change (PC) or control change (CC) messages to the OC10.
- MIDI OUT/THRU: Use "MIDI OUT" to send MIDI messages generated by the OC10. "MIDI THRU" passes incoming MIDI data directly to another device.
5. Operating Instructions
The OC10 offers various modes of operation to suit different performance needs.

Figure 5.1: Top panel of the One Control OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop, highlighting the footswitches for program selection and bank changes, along with the smaller control buttons for programming and MIDI settings.
5.1 Program Mode
In Program Mode, you can store and recall combinations of activated effects loops. Each program saves the on/off state of all 10 loops.
- Selecting Programs: Use the footswitches labeled PGM1/L1 through PGM7/L7 to select a stored program. The active program's LED will illuminate.
- Changing Banks: Use the "BANK UP/L8" and "BANK DN/L9" footswitches to navigate through different banks of programs.
- Storing Programs:
- Activate or deactivate the desired loops using the small buttons above the footswitches (or in Direct Mode).
- Press and hold the footswitch where you want to save the program until its LED flashes, indicating successful storage.
5.2 Direct Mode
Direct Mode allows you to individually toggle each of the 10 effects loops on or off in real-time, without recalling a stored program.
- Activating Direct Mode: Press the "DIRECT" button (usually near the tuner output switch). The "DIRECT" LED will illuminate.
- Toggling Loops: In Direct Mode, each footswitch (PGM1/L1 to PGM7/L7, BANK UP/L8, BANK DN/L9, TUNER/L10) directly controls its corresponding loop. Press the footswitch to toggle the loop on or off.
5.3 MIDI Operation
The OC10 can send and receive MIDI Program Change (PC) and Control Change (CC) messages.
- Receiving PC Messages: The OC10 can be configured to switch programs based on incoming MIDI PC messages. Refer to the detailed MIDI section in the full manual for mapping.
- Sending PC/CC Messages: The OC10 can be programmed to send MIDI PC or CC messages when a program is recalled or a loop is toggled. This allows it to control other MIDI-compatible devices in your setup.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your OC10 Crocodile Tail Loop, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Connections: Periodically check all cable connections for secure fit and signs of wear. Loose connections can cause signal loss or noise.
- Power Supply: Always use the specified power supply. Incorrect voltage or polarity can damage the unit.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your OC10, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power/Unit not turning on | Incorrect power supply; Loose power connection; Faulty outlet | Ensure correct 9V DC (center negative) power supply is used. Check power cable connection. Test outlet with another device. |
| No sound/Signal loss | Incorrect cable connections; Faulty cables; Loop not activated; Buffer issue | Verify all audio cables are correctly connected to IN/OUT/SEND/RETURN jacks. Test cables. Ensure the desired loop is active in Program or Direct Mode. Check buffer settings. |
| Hum or noise | Ground loop; Faulty power supply; Interference from other devices | Use isolated power supply for pedals. Ensure proper grounding. Move unit away from power transformers or noisy electronics. |
| Programs not saving | Incorrect saving procedure | Ensure you press and hold the target footswitch until the LED flashes to confirm saving. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact One Control customer support.
