Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging. Ensure all components are present and undamaged. Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, allowing adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
2. Power Connection
Connect the provided power cable to the mixer's power input and then to a suitable AC power outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting. The mixer operates on 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz.
3. Input and Output Connections
The Si Performer 2 features a comprehensive array of input and output options:
- Microphone Inputs: Connect microphones to the 24 XLR inputs on the rear panel. These inputs feature recallable mic preamps.
- Line Inputs: Utilize the 8 line inputs for connecting other audio sources.
- Expansion Slots: The mixer includes two ViSi Connect option card slots, supporting an additional 128x96 input/output paths (one 64x64 and one 64x32 expansion slot).
- Main Outputs: Connect your main PA system to the primary output connectors.
- Auxiliary Outputs: Use auxiliary outputs for monitor mixes or external effects processors.

4. Initial Power On
Once all connections are secure, switch the power button to the ON position. The mixer will initiate its boot sequence. The display will show the Soundcraft Si Expression logo during startup. Allow the system to fully load before proceeding with operation.
Operating the Mixer
1. Channel Controls
Each channel strip on the Si Performer 2 provides comprehensive control over its respective input:
- Faders: Adjust the volume level for each channel. The motorized faders ensure precise recall of settings.
- ON/OFF Buttons: Engage or disengage the channel's audio signal.
- Gain/Trim: Adjust the input sensitivity for optimal signal levels.
- EQ (Equalization): Utilize the full EQ section to shape the tonal characteristics of each channel. This includes controls for high, mid, and low frequencies.
- Dynamics: Apply compression and gating to control the dynamic range of the input signal.
- LCR Panning: Position the sound source within the stereo field (Left, Center, Right).
- Pre/Post Selection: Configure auxiliary sends as pre-fader (for monitors) or post-fader (for effects).

2. Mixing Capabilities
The Si Performer 2 offers extensive mixing capabilities, allowing for up to 80 channels to mix. This includes the 24 local mic inputs, 8 line inputs, and additional channels via expansion cards.
3. Built-in Effects
The mixer integrates Lexicon effects processors, eliminating the need for external rack gear. Access and apply various effects such as reverb, delay, and modulation directly from the console.
4. Scene Management
Save and recall complete mixer configurations (scenes) for different performances or setups. This feature significantly speeds up sound checks and transitions between events.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regularly clean the mixer's surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and mild cleaning solution, ensuring no liquid enters the controls or vents. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
2. Software Updates
Periodically check the Soundcraft website for firmware updates. Keeping your mixer's software up-to-date ensures optimal performance, new features, and bug fixes. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when performing updates.
3. Storage
When not in use, store the mixer in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. If transporting, use a dedicated flight case to protect the unit from physical damage.
Troubleshooting
- No Power:
Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the mixer and the power outlet. Verify the power switch is ON. Check the power outlet with another device. - No Sound Output:
Check all input and output cable connections. Verify channel faders are up and not muted. Ensure master faders are at an audible level. Check that the correct input sources are selected and routed to the main outputs. - Distorted Audio:
Reduce input gain if the signal is clipping (indicated by red peak lights). Check for faulty cables or connections. Ensure output levels are not overdriving connected amplifiers or speakers. - Fader or Button Malfunction:
Perform a system restart. If the issue persists, contact Soundcraft support.
