  3. Audio Input (Optional): If using music-controlled programs, connect an audio source (e.g., mixer, music player) to the Audio Input jack on the rear panel. Use the Line/Mic switch to select the appropriate input level. Adjust the Sensitivity switch for optimal response.
  4. Power On: Flip the Power ON/OFF switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The digital display on the front will illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

The LF-5 offers various modes and programs controlled by its five footswitches.

5.1 Footswitch Functions

  • MODE: Cycles through the available DMX operating modes. The LF-5 features 6 distinct DMX modes.
  • AUTO: Activates and cycles through 10 pre-programmed automatic lighting sequences.
  • SOUND: Engages music-controlled programs, where lighting effects react to the audio input.
  • COLOR: Likely used to cycle through pre-set colors or color-changing patterns within certain modes.
  • BLACKOUT: Instantly turns off all connected DMX lighting fixtures. Press again to restore previous state.
  • TAP TEMPO: Used to manually set the speed or tempo of automatic or music-controlled programs.
  • DOWN / UP: Navigates through programs, modes, or adjusts parameters depending on the active function.
  • DIMMER: Adjusts the overall brightness level of the connected lighting fixtures.

5.2 DMX Modes

Press the MODE footswitch to cycle through the 6 DMX modes. The digital display will indicate the current mode. These modes define how the controller sends DMX signals and how it interacts with different types of DMX fixtures (e.g., RGB, RGBW, etc.). Refer to your lighting fixture's manual for compatible DMX modes and addressing.

5.3 Automatic Programs

Press the AUTO footswitch to activate automatic programs. There are 10 built-in programs. Use the UP and DOWN footswitches to select different programs. The TAP TEMPO footswitch can be used to adjust the speed of the currently running automatic program.

5.4 Music-Controlled Programs

To use music-controlled programs, ensure an audio source is connected to the Audio Input. Press the SOUND footswitch to activate these programs. The lighting effects will synchronize with the rhythm and intensity of the incoming audio. Adjust the Sensitivity switch and Line/Mic switch on the rear panel to optimize the audio response.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the surface of the controller with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically check cables and connections for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the controller and a working power outlet. Check the Power ON/OFF switch on the rear panel.
  • Lights Not Responding: Verify all DMX cables are correctly connected. Check the DMX addresses of your lighting fixtures to ensure they match the controller's output. Ensure the correct DMX mode is selected on the LF-5.
  • Sound Activation Not Working: Confirm an audio source is connected to the Audio Input. Check the Line/Mic switch setting and adjust the Sensitivity switch to an appropriate level. Ensure the SOUND footswitch is activated.
  • Unexpected Behavior: Try powering off the unit, waiting a few seconds, and then powering it back on. If issues persist, consult the manufacturer's support.
