1. Introduction
The AcuRite Wind Weather Center Weather Station provides comprehensive weather information directly from your backyard. This device utilizes patented self-calibrating technology to generate a personalized 12 to 24-hour weather forecast, ensuring accuracy for your specific location.
Key features include indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings, daily high/low records, heat index, wind speed and wind chill, a multi-variable history chart, moon phase display, and an atomic clock with calendar. The atomic clock automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time (DST) for precise timekeeping.

2. Package Contents
Please ensure all items listed below are present in your package:
- Wireless Outdoor Sensor
- Digital Display Unit
- Instruction Manual (this document)
3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The weather station requires a total of seven (7) AA batteries (not included) for operation.
- Outdoor Sensor: Locate the battery compartment on the wireless outdoor sensor. Insert four (4) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Securely close the battery compartment.
- Display Unit: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the digital display unit. Insert three (3) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Securely close the battery compartment.
It is recommended to use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries for optimal performance, especially in cold weather conditions for the outdoor sensor.
3.2 Wireless Outdoor Sensor Placement
Proper placement of the wireless outdoor sensor is crucial for accurate readings.
- Location: Choose an open location, free from obstructions like trees, buildings, or other structures that could block wind flow or sunlight.
- Height: Mount the sensor at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) off the ground for optimal wind speed measurement.
- Sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight exposure on the temperature/humidity sensors to prevent artificially high readings.
- Range: Ensure the sensor is within 330 feet (100 meters) of the display unit. Walls and other obstacles can reduce this range.
- Mounting: The sensor features a base for easy mounting on a pole or flat surface using screws (not included).

3.3 Digital Display Unit Setup
Once batteries are installed in both units, the display unit will automatically attempt to connect with the outdoor sensor and receive the atomic clock signal.
- Initial Sync: Place the display unit near the outdoor sensor during initial setup to facilitate faster synchronization. This may take a few minutes.
- Atomic Clock: The atomic clock will automatically set itself once a signal is received. Ensure the correct timezone is selected if manual adjustment is needed (refer to Section 4.3 for settings).
- Placement: The display unit can stand upright on a tabletop or be wall-mounted. Choose a location where the display is easily visible and accessible.

4. Operation
4.1 Display Overview
The LCD screen provides a comprehensive overview of current and historical weather data.

Image 4.1.1: A close-up view of the AcuRite weather station's LCD display, showing various data points such as future forecast, wind speed, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, moon phase, and a history chart.
- Future Forecast: Icon-based prediction for 12 to 24 hours.
- Time/Date/Timezone/DST: Current time, date, selected timezone, and DST indicator.
- Barometric Pressure: Current atmospheric pressure and trend indicator.
- Moon Phase: Graphical representation of the current moon phase.
- Wind Speed: Current, peak, and average wind speed in MPH.
- Temperature & Humidity: Indoor and outdoor readings, including daily high/low.
- Wind Chill: Calculated wind chill factor.
- History Chart: Displays historical data for barometric pressure, temperature, and wind speed over several hours.
4.2 Reading Data
The display is designed for clear readability. Most data points are self-explanatory. Pay attention to trend arrows next to temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure for changes.
4.3 Settings Adjustment (Buttons)
The buttons located at the bottom of the display unit allow for various adjustments and data viewing.
- SET: Enters setup mode for time, date, timezone, and measurement units. Press repeatedly to cycle through settings. Use UP/DOWN arrows (often integrated with other buttons) to adjust values.
- HISTORY: Cycles through historical data for different parameters (e.g., 24-hour highs/lows).
- MODE: Changes the display mode or view.
- SCALE: Toggles between different measurement units (e.g., °F/°C, MPH/KPH).
- MIN/MAX: Displays the minimum and maximum recorded values for temperature, humidity, and wind speed. Press and hold to clear recorded MIN/MAX values.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Display Unit: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Outdoor Sensor: Periodically check the wind cups and wind vane for debris (leaves, insects) and gently clean if necessary. Ensure the ventilation openings are clear.
5.2 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries in both the display unit and outdoor sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new batteries.
