1. Introduction
The Plumb Pak PP830-8 Universal Adjustable Fill Valve and Flapper Toilet Repair Kit is designed to replace worn or faulty toilet tank components, ensuring efficient and quiet operation. This kit includes an adjustable anti-siphon fill valve, a flapper, and a refill tube, suitable for most toilets. The fill valve is adjustable from 9-1/2 inches to 13-1/2 inches, eliminating the need for older float ball and rod technologies.
2. Package Contents
Please ensure all the following components are present in your kit:
- Adjustable Anti-Siphon Fill Valve
- Flapper with Chain
- Refill Tube
- Fill Valve Gasket/Washer
- Fill Valve Lock Nut

3. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when performing plumbing repairs. Follow these guidelines:
- Turn off the main water supply to the toilet before starting any work.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection.
- Ensure the work area is well-lit and free of obstructions.
- If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified plumber.
4. Installation Guide
4.1. Preparation
- Locate the water supply valve for your toilet, typically found on the wall or floor behind the toilet. Turn the valve clockwise until the water supply is completely shut off.
- Flush the toilet to drain the water from the tank. Hold the flush handle down until as much water as possible has drained.
- Use a towel or sponge to absorb any remaining water at the bottom of the toilet tank.
- Carefully remove the toilet tank lid and place it in a safe location to prevent damage.
4.2. Removing Old Components
- Disconnect the water supply line from the bottom of the old fill valve. You may need a wrench to loosen the nut. Have a small bucket or towel ready to catch any residual water.
- From inside the tank, unscrew the large lock nut that secures the old fill valve to the tank.
- Remove the old fill valve from the tank.
- Detach the old flapper from the overflow tube and disconnect its chain from the flush lever. Remove the old flapper.
4.3. Installing New Fill Valve
- Ensure the new fill valve has its rubber gasket properly seated at the base.
- Insert the new fill valve into the hole at the bottom of the toilet tank.
- From underneath the tank, thread the lock nut onto the fill valve shank and tighten it securely by hand. Use a plumber's wrench for final tightening to ensure a watertight seal, but do not overtighten.
- Connect the refill tube to the small port on the top of the fill valve and clip the other end to the top of the overflow tube.
4.4. Installing New Flapper
- Attach the new flapper to the overflow tube by hooking its ears onto the designated pins or slots.
- Connect the flapper chain to the flush lever. Adjust the chain length so there is a small amount of slack (about 1/2 inch) when the flapper is closed. Too much slack will prevent a full flush, and too little will prevent the flapper from sealing properly.
4.5. Connecting Water Supply
- Reconnect the water supply line to the bottom of the new fill valve. Hand-tighten the connection, then use a wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
4.6. Testing and Adjustments
- Slowly turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to restore water to the toilet.
- Allow the tank to fill completely. The fill valve should shut off automatically when the water reaches the desired level.
- Adjust the water level in the tank by turning the adjustment screw on the top of the fill valve. Turn clockwise to raise the water level, counter-clockwise to lower it. The water level should be about 1 inch below the top of the overflow tube.
- Flush the toilet several times to ensure proper operation of both the fill valve and flapper. Check for any leaks around the fill valve connections.

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Plumb Pak PP830-8 kit operates automatically. Simply press the flush lever to initiate a flush. The flapper will open, allowing water to drain from the tank into the bowl. Once the tank is empty, the flapper will close, and the fill valve will automatically refill the tank to the preset water level.
5.1. Adjusting Water Level and Flow
- Water Level: Use the gray adjustment knob on the fill valve to fine-tune the water level in the tank. Turn it to raise or lower the float, which controls the water shut-off point.
- Refill Flow: The blue knob on the fill valve allows you to adjust the volume and speed of water flowing through the refill tube into the overflow pipe, which helps clean the toilet bowl during the refill cycle.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps prolong the life of your toilet components:
- Periodically inspect the flapper for signs of wear or deterioration. Replace if cracked or stiff.
- Check the fill valve for proper operation and ensure no debris is obstructing its movement.
- Clean the inside of the toilet tank occasionally to prevent mineral buildup, which can affect component performance.
7. Troubleshooting
- Toilet Runs Continuously: Check the flapper for a proper seal. Ensure the flapper chain is not too tight, preventing it from closing completely. Verify the fill valve is shutting off water at the correct level.
- Weak Flush: Adjust the water level in the tank higher using the gray adjustment knob on the fill valve. Ensure the flapper chain has enough slack to open fully.
- Slow Tank Fill: Check if the water supply valve is fully open. Inspect the refill tube for kinks or obstructions.
- Leaks: Tighten all connections (water supply line, fill valve lock nut). Inspect gaskets for damage and replace if necessary.
