1. Introduction

3. Product Overview

The EL-WiFi-TH+ sensor is a compact device designed for environmental monitoring. Key components include:

  • LCD Display: Shows current temperature (in °C or °F) and relative humidity (%RH) readings.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your EL-WiFi-TH+ sensor for the first time:

  1. Install Software: Download and install the latest version of the Lascar EL-WiFi software from the official Lascar Electronics website onto your PC. This software is required for initial configuration and data management.
  2. Connect Sensor: Connect the EL-WiFi-TH+ sensor to your PC using the supplied USB cable. The device will power on and begin charging its internal battery.
  3. Launch Software: Open the installed Lascar EL-WiFi software. The software should automatically detect the connected sensor.
  4. Configure Wi-Fi: Within the software, navigate to the Wi-Fi configuration section. The sensor will scan for available wireless networks. Select your desired Wi-Fi network and enter the network password. Ensure your PC is connected to the same network during this process.
  5. Set Logging Parameters: Configure the desired logging interval (e.g., every 10 seconds, 1 minute, 1 hour) and alarm thresholds for temperature and humidity if required.
  6. Apply Settings: Save and apply the settings to the sensor. Once configured, the sensor can be disconnected from the PC and placed anywhere within range of the configured Wi-Fi network.
  7. Cloud Service (Optional): If you plan to use the EL-Wi-Fi-Cloud service, follow the instructions provided within the software or on the Lascar website to register your device and link it to your cloud account.

Note: If the sensor temporarily loses connectivity with the network, it will continue to log readings internally for up to 120 days (at a 10-second sample interval) until it can re-establish communication with the PC application or cloud service.

5. Operation

Once set up, the EL-WiFi-TH+ operates largely autonomously. Here's how to interact with it:

  • Viewing Live Data: The LCD display on the sensor will continuously show the current temperature and humidity readings.
  • Accessing Logged Data:
    • Via PC Software: Open the Lascar EL-WiFi software on your PC. If the sensor is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, data will be automatically streamed and displayed. You can view graphs, export data, and analyze trends.
    • Via EL-Wi-Fi-Cloud: Log in to your EL-Wi-Fi-Cloud account from any web browser. Your sensor's data will be accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.
    • Direct USB Download: If Wi-Fi is not available or preferred, connect the sensor directly to your PC via USB. The software will allow you to download all logged data.
  • Alarms: If alarm thresholds were set during configuration, the sensor can trigger visual or audible alerts (depending on model and software settings) when readings fall outside the specified range. Notifications can also be sent via the cloud service.

  • Sensor not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure the sensor is within range of your Wi-Fi router or access point.

    • Check if your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (802.11b/g/n) compatible, as 5GHz networks are typically not supported.

  • No data appearing in software/cloud:
    • Confirm the sensor is connected to Wi-Fi (check the display for Wi-Fi icon).

    • Verify that the logging interval is set appropriately and that enough time has passed for new data points to be recorded.
    • If using the cloud, ensure your device is properly registered and linked to your account.
  • Inaccurate readings:
    • Ensure the sensor is placed in an area free from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources that could affect readings.
    • Avoid placing the sensor near vents, windows, or appliances that generate heat or moisture.
    • Allow sufficient time for the sensor to stabilize after placement, especially if moved from a different environment.
  • Battery not charging:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the sensor and a powered USB port on your PC or a USB wall adapter.
    • Try a different USB cable or USB port.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your EL-WiFi-TH+ sensor, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water.
  • Placement: Keep the sensor in a stable environment, away from extreme temperatures, high humidity, direct sunlight, and strong vibrations.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check the Lascar Electronics website for software and firmware updates for your device. Updates can improve performance, add features, and fix bugs.
