4.2 Wiring Connections

  1. Power Connection:
    • Connect the +BAT terminal to the vehicle's positive battery terminal (or a fused constant 12V source) using appropriate gauge wire. Install an inline fuse (not supplied) as close to the battery as possible.
    • Connect the GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal chassis ground point in the vehicle.
    • Connect the REM terminal to the remote turn-on output of your head unit or other signal source.
  2. Audio Input Connection:
    • Connect the RCA outputs from your head unit (Front, Rear/Subwoofer) to the corresponding INPUT RCA jacks on the STX 104 PRO.
  3. Audio Output Connection:
    • Connect the OUTPUT RCA jacks (Flat Out, Low/Rear Out, Mid Low Out, Mid Out, High Out) to the corresponding input channels on your amplifiers. Ensure correct channel assignment (e.g., Low Out to subwoofer amplifier, High Out to tweeter amplifier).

5. Operating Instructions

The STX 104 PRO offers extensive control over your audio signal. Adjustments should be made incrementally and with careful listening.

5.1 Initial Setup and Gain Matching

  1. Set all Level controls on the STX 104 PRO to minimum.
  2. Set all amplifier gains to minimum.
  3. Play a familiar piece of music at a moderate volume from your head unit.
  4. Slowly increase the Level control for one output channel (e.g., High Out) on the STX 104 PRO until the sound is clear and undistorted.
  5. Adjust the gain on the corresponding amplifier until the desired volume is reached without distortion. Repeat for all channels.

5.2 Crossover Adjustments

The STX 104 PRO allows you to define the frequency range for each speaker set.

  • Subsonic Filter: Use this to remove frequencies below your subwoofer's effective range (e.g., 30Hz or 50Hz) to prevent damage and improve sound quality.
  • Low Pass (LPF): Sets the upper frequency limit for a channel. Typically used for subwoofers (e.g., 80Hz-120Hz).
  • High Pass (HPF): Sets the lower frequency limit for a channel. Typically used for mid-range speakers and tweeters (e.g., 80Hz for mid-bass, 2.5KHz for tweeters).
  • Mid Low / Mid / High Crossover Points: Adjust these knobs to precisely define the frequency bands for your mid-bass, mid-range, and high-frequency speakers. Refer to your speaker specifications for recommended crossover points.

5.3 Phase Adjustment

The Phase switch (0°/180°) helps ensure that all speakers are acoustically in phase, preventing cancellation and improving bass response and sound imaging. Experiment with both settings for each channel to find the optimal sound.

5.4 Bass Boost

The Bass Boost control allows for a subtle enhancement of low frequencies. Use sparingly to avoid distortion.

6. Maintenance

The Stetsom STX 104 PRO requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term performance.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the unit. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Environment: Ensure the installation location remains dry and free from excessive dust or extreme temperatures.
