  2. Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Do not use hot water or other liquids.

Priming removes air from the system and prepares the machine for use.

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
  2. Plug the machine into a suitable electrical outlet.
  3. Turn on the power switch. The indicator lights will flash as the machine heats up (approx. 3-4 minutes).
  4. Once the lights are solid, place a large cup under the portafilter spout (without coffee).
  5. Press the Espresso button (single shot). Let water run through until the cup is about half full. Repeat this process 2-3 times.
  6. Place a cup under the milk frother nozzle. Turn the milk frother dial to the steam/froth position. Press the Cappuccino button (single shot) to release steam and water. Let it run for about 15-20 seconds.
  7. Your machine is now primed and ready for use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Making Espresso

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is powered on and warmed up (indicator lights solid).
  2. Select the desired filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Use the included scoop to measure. For a single shot, use one level scoop; for a double shot, use two level scoops.
  4. Use the flat end of the scoop to tamp the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Proper tamping is crucial for good espresso extraction.
  5. Wipe any excess coffee grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
  6. Attach the portafilter to the brew head by aligning it and twisting firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  7. Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
  8. Press the Espresso button once for a single shot or twice for a double shot. The machine will automatically brew the espresso.
  9. To manually control the espresso volume, press and hold the Espresso button for 3 seconds. Press again to stop the flow.

6.2 Making Cappuccino or Latte

  1. Prepare your espresso as described in Section 6.1.
  2. Fill the milk tank with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy). Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
  3. Adjust the milk frother dial to your desired foam level.
  4. Place your cappuccino or latte cup under the milk frother nozzle and the portafilter spout.
  5. Press the Cappuccino button once for a single serving or twice for a double serving. The machine will first dispense milk foam, then espresso.
  6. Press the Latte button once for a single serving or twice for a double serving. The machine will first dispense milk, then espresso, with less foam than a cappuccino.
  7. To manually control milk frothing, press and hold the Cappuccino button for 3 seconds. Press again to stop.

6.3 Using ESE Pods

  1. Insert the ESE Pod filter basket into the portafilter.
  2. Place an ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) pod into the filter basket.
  3. Follow steps 5-8 from Section 6.1 to brew your espresso.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

7.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Empty and Clean Drip Tray: After each use, remove and empty the drip tray. Wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse.
  2. Clean Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Remove the used coffee grounds. Wash the portafilter and filter baskets with warm, soapy water. Ensure all coffee residue is removed from the filter holes.
  3. Clean Milk Frother Nozzle: After preparing milk-based drinks, place a cup under the frother nozzle. Turn the milk frother dial to the "Clean" position (often indicated by a water drop icon). Press and hold the Latte button for 3 seconds to activate the cleaning cycle, which flushes steam and hot water through the nozzle. This prevents milk residue buildup.
  4. Wipe Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

7.2 Weekly/Regular Cleaning

  1. Water and Milk Tanks: Periodically wash the water and milk tanks thoroughly with warm, soapy water.
  2. Dishwasher Safe Parts: The water tank, milk tank, drip tray, and filter baskets are generally dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). The portafilter should be hand-washed.

7.3 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your machine, affecting performance. Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on your water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions (use a descaler specifically designed for espresso machines).
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the portafilter and another under the milk frother nozzle.
  4. Run several cycles of plain hot water through the portafilter (using the manual espresso function) and steam through the frother nozzle (using the manual cappuccino function) until the water tank is empty.
  5. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
  6. Repeat the process of running fresh water through both the portafilter and frother nozzle to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
