Important Safety Instructions
To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following:
- Read and follow all safety instructions and all important notices on the appliance before using.
- DANGER: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.
- If the appliance falls into the water, DO NOT reach for it. First, unplug it and then retrieve it. If electrical components get wet, unplug the appliance immediately.
- Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
- Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
- To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A "drip loop" should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The "drip loop" is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming into contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflector, lamp bulbs, and the like.
- Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
- Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
- Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
- Ensure the appliance is securely installed before operating it.
- Read and observe all important notices on the appliance.

Setup Instructions
- Inspect the Unit: Before installation, carefully inspect the pump for any signs of damage. Ensure all components are present and intact.
- Attach Suction Cups: Securely attach the provided suction cups to the side of the pump unit. These will be used to mount the pump inside your aquarium.
- Connect Air Tubing (Optional): If you wish to utilize the aeration feature, connect one end of the air tubing to the air intake nozzle on the top of the pump. Attach the air valve to the other end of the tubing. The air valve allows you to control the amount of air introduced into the water.
- Position in Aquarium: Submerge the entire pump unit into your aquarium. Use the suction cups to firmly attach the pump to the inside wall of the tank. The pump can be placed vertically or horizontally, depending on your tank's depth and desired water flow. Ensure the pump is fully submerged before plugging it in.
- Adjust Flow Direction: The outlet nozzle can be rotated to direct the water flow as needed within the aquarium.
- Create Drip Loop: Arrange a "drip loop" with the power cord to prevent water from traveling along the cord to the electrical outlet.
- Plug In: Once the pump is securely installed and fully submerged, plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
- Power On: After plugging in the unit, the pump will immediately begin to operate, circulating and filtering the aquarium water.
- Adjust Water Flow: The JP-025F features an adjustable flow rate. Locate the slider control on the side of the pump marked with '+' and '-' symbols. Slide the control towards '+' for increased flow and towards '-' for decreased flow.
- Adjust Aeration: If the air tubing is connected, use the air valve to regulate the amount of air bubbles introduced into the water. Open the valve for more aeration, close it for less.
- Monitor Performance: Regularly observe the water flow and clarity. Ensure the pump is operating smoothly and quietly.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient performance of your SunSun JP-025F filter pump. Always unplug the unit before performing any maintenance.
- Filter Sponge Cleaning/Replacement:
- Unplug the pump from the power outlet.
- Carefully remove the pump from the aquarium.
- Locate the filter bay cover (usually at the bottom or side of the unit) and gently detach it.
- Remove the blue filter sponge.
- Rinse the sponge thoroughly with old aquarium water (not tap water, to preserve beneficial bacteria) to remove accumulated debris. If the sponge is heavily clogged or deteriorated, replace it with a new one.
- Reinsert the clean or new filter sponge into the filter bay.
- Reattach the filter bay cover securely.
- Impeller Cleaning:
- After removing the filter bay cover, you may also access the impeller chamber.
- Gently remove the impeller. Clean any debris, algae, or mineral buildup from the impeller and its chamber using a small brush.
- Ensure the ceramic shaft is clean and free from obstructions.
- Reassemble the impeller and cover.
- Housing Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the pump housing to remove any algae or debris.
- Frequency: Perform filter sponge cleaning every 2-4 weeks, or more frequently if water flow decreases significantly or water clarity diminishes. Impeller cleaning should be done every 1-3 months, depending on usage and water conditions.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start or operate. | No power supply; Impeller jammed; Damaged motor. | Check power connection and outlet. Unplug and clean impeller chamber. If motor is damaged, replace the unit. |
| Low water flow. | Clogged filter sponge; Impeller obstructed; Flow rate adjusted too low. | Clean or replace filter sponge. Clean impeller. Adjust flow rate slider to '+'. |
| Excessive noise or vibration. | Impeller obstructed or damaged; Unit not securely mounted; Air in pump. | Unplug and clean impeller. Ensure suction cups are firmly attached. Gently shake pump to release trapped air. |
| No or weak aeration. | Air tubing kinked or blocked; Air valve closed; Air intake nozzle clogged. | Check air tubing for kinks and clear blockages. Open air valve. Clean air intake nozzle. |
