2. Setup and Connection

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the JRX225 loudspeaker from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.

2.2 Placement

The JRX225 can be placed directly on a stable surface or utilized with its dual-angle pole-mount socket. This socket allows for a 10° tilt, optimizing audience coverage and sound distribution. Ensure the speaker is placed on a flat, stable surface to prevent tipping. For optimal sound, position speakers to cover the intended listening area without obstructions.

2.3 Connections

As a passive loudspeaker, the JRX225 requires an external amplifier. Connect the speaker to a suitable power amplifier using high-quality speaker cables. The JRX225 features Neutrik Speakon NL-4 (x1) and 1/4" TS phone jack (x1) parallel connectors. Ensure proper polarity (+ to + and - to -) when making connections to avoid phase issues.

The recommended amplifier power is 250 W to 500 W into 8 ohms. Using an amplifier outside this range may result in suboptimal performance or damage.

3. Operation

3.1 Powering On/Off

Since the JRX225 is a passive speaker, its power is supplied by the connected amplifier. Always ensure your amplifier is turned off before connecting or disconnecting speakers. Turn on your amplifier after all connections are secure, and turn it off before disconnecting.

3.2 Volume Control

Adjust the volume through your amplifier or mixing console. Start with low volume levels and gradually increase to the desired output. Avoid operating the system at excessively high volumes for extended periods to prevent potential damage to the speakers or hearing impairment.

3.3 Sound Optimization

For optimal sound quality, consider using an external equalizer or crossover with your amplifier. This allows for fine-tuning of frequency response to suit the acoustic environment and musical content. The JRX225's Progressive Transition™ waveguide ensures superior coverage and reduced distortion, but further optimization can enhance performance.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the loudspeaker with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the finish or internal components. Periodically check the grille for dust or debris and gently remove it.

4.2 Storage

When not in use, store the JRX225 in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If transporting, use appropriate covers or cases to protect the enclosure and grille from physical damage.

4.3 Protection

The JRX225 incorporates SonicGuard™ technology to protect the high-frequency driver. However, continuous operation at clipping levels or with an underpowered/overpowered amplifier can still cause damage. Always monitor your amplifier's output and avoid prolonged signal clipping.

5. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No Sound Output
  • Amplifier not powered on.
  • Incorrect cable connection.
  • Damaged speaker cable.
  • Amplifier output level too low.
  • Ensure amplifier is on and functioning.
  • Verify all cables are securely connected to the correct inputs/outputs.
  • Test with a known good speaker cable.
  • Increase amplifier output gradually.
Distorted Sound
  • Amplifier clipping (overdriving).
  • Input signal too high.
  • Damaged speaker component.
  • Incorrect impedance match.
  • Reduce amplifier gain or volume.
  • Lower the input signal level from the source.
  • Contact authorized service for inspection.
  • Ensure amplifier impedance matches speaker (8 ohms).
Low Volume Output
  • Amplifier output too low.
  • Incorrect wiring (out of phase).
  • Source device volume too low.
  • Increase amplifier volume.
  • Check speaker cable polarity.
  • Increase volume on the audio source.
