  1. Initial Gain Setting: Start with the GAIN knob fully counter-clockwise (minimum gain).
  2. Phantom Power: If using a condenser microphone, engage the 48V PHANTOM POWER switch. Wait a few seconds for the power to stabilize before proceeding.
  3. PAD: If your microphone has a very high output or you are recording a very loud source, engage the -15dB PAD switch to prevent input clipping.
  4. HPF: Engage the 80Hz HPF switch if you are experiencing unwanted low-frequency rumble, proximity effect, or stage noise.
  5. Adjusting Gain: While monitoring your signal, slowly increase the GAIN knob until you reach a healthy recording level without clipping. The HV-35 is designed for transparency, so aim for a strong signal without distortion.
  6. +10dB GAIN Boost: For very quiet sources or low-output microphones (like passive ribbon microphones), engage the +10dB GAIN Boost switch to achieve sufficient level.
  7. Polarity: Use the POLARITY switch if you need to correct phase issues, especially when using multiple microphones on a single source.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
