Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Please observe the following warnings:

WARNING! NEVER LOOK AT THE SUN!

NEVER LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH A TELESCOPE, SPOTTING SCOPE, BINOCULARS, AN EYEPIECE OR AN ACCESSORY. NEVER USE AN OPTICAL INSTRUMENT OR ACCESSORY TO OBSERVE THE SUN. THIS COULD CAUSE PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE, INCLUDING BLINDNESS.

NEVER USE SOLAR FILTERS THAT SCREW ONTO THE EYEPIECE OR ACCESSORY; THE HEAT GENERATED COULD BREAK THE OPTICAL ELEMENTS AND CAUSE SEVERE EYE INJURY.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Mounting the OTA: Attach the Skymax-127 OTA to a compatible astronomical mount (mount not included). 3. Attaching the Diagonal: Insert the 1.25 inch / 31.7 mm diagonal mirror into the telescope's visual back and secure it with the thumbscrew.
  4. Inserting Eyepieces: Insert either the 10 mm or 25 mm eyepiece into the diagonal. Start with the 25 mm eyepiece for a wider field of view and easier object acquisition.
  5. Attaching and Aligning the Luminous Dot Finder Scope: Mount the luminous dot finder scope onto its designated bracket on the telescope tube. Align the finder scope with the main telescope by pointing the telescope at a distant terrestrial object (e.g., a tree top or distant building) and adjusting the finder scope's alignment screws until the object is centered in both the finder's red dot and the main telescope's eyepiece.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Image is blurry/out of focusAdjust the focus knob slowly. Ensure the eyepiece is fully inserted and secured. Check for condensation on optics.
No image visibleEnsure lens caps are removed. Check that the eyepiece is inserted correctly. Verify the finder scope is aligned with the main telescope.
Image is dimThis is normal for high magnification or faint objects. Observe from a dark location. Allow your eyes to adapt to the darkness.
Stars appear as streaksThis indicates the mount is not tracking properly or the telescope is vibrating. Ensure the mount is stable and tracking correctly.
Dew/Condensation on opticsAllow the telescope to acclimate to ambient temperature before use. Use a dew shield or a low-power hairdryer (on cool setting) to gently remove condensation.
