5. Battery Installation

To install batteries in your RCA universal remote control:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control.
  2. Press down on the tab and slide the cover off.
  3. Insert two (2) new AAA alkaline batteries, matching the (+) and (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Slide the battery compartment cover back into place until it clicks securely.

  6. Once the device responds, immediately press the ENTER button to save the code. The indicator light will turn off.

This method searches through codes specific to a brand.

  1. Turn on the device you want to control.
  2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button.
  3. While holding CODE SEARCH, press and release the device button you want to program. The indicator light will illuminate.
  4. Release the CODE SEARCH button.
  5. Press and hold the number button corresponding to the first letter of your device's brand (e.g., 'S' for Samsung might be '7' for P-R-S). Refer to the code list for specific brand-to-number mappings.
  6. Release the number button when the device turns off.
  7. Test the remote's functions. If not all functions work, try the next code for that brand by repeating the process and pressing POWER instead of the number button after step 5.

6.3. Manual Code Entry

If you have a specific code for your device, you can enter it directly.

  1. Turn on the device you want to control.
  2. Locate the code list provided with your remote (typically a separate booklet or online).
  3. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button.
  4. While holding CODE SEARCH, press and release the device button you want to program. The indicator light will illuminate.
  5. Release the CODE SEARCH button.
  6. Enter the 4-digit code for your device using the number pad. The indicator light will turn off after the last digit is entered.
  7. Test the remote's functions. If the device does not respond or some functions do not work, try the next code listed for your brand.
