2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items are present: the OutIn Claro scale, silicone mat, protective carrying case, and USB-C charging cable. Inspect for any visible damage.

2.2 Initial Charge

Before first use, fully charge the scale using the provided USB-C cable. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge ensures optimal performance and battery life.

2.3 Placing the Silicone Mat

Place the food-grade silicone mat on the weighing platform. This mat protects the scale from heat and spills, and provides a stable surface for your brewing equipment.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off and Tare Function

  • Power On/Off: Single-tap the Power/Tare button to turn the scale on. Long-press to turn off.
  • Tare Weight: Single-tap the Power/Tare button to zero out the current weight (tare function).

3.2 Unit Selection

Double-tap the Unit button to switch between grams (g) and ounces (oz).

3.3 Mode Selection

Double-tap the Mode button to cycle through the available brewing modes: Manual (Standard), Espresso (M1), and Pour-Over (M2).

3.4 Timer Function

  • Start/Pause Timer: Single-tap the Timer button to start or pause the timer.
  • Reset Timer: Long-press the Timer button to reset it to zero.

3.5 Mute/Unmute Function

Single-tap the Mute/Unmute button to toggle sound feedback on or off.

3.6 Espresso Mode (M1)

In M1 mode, the scale automatically tares when a cup is placed, starts timing when espresso begins to flow, and pauses when the flow stops. This mode is ideal for precise espresso shot extraction.

3.7 Pour-Over Mode (M2)

In M2 mode, the scale automatically locks the weight of the grounds, tracks water in real-time, and displays both brew time and ratio for optimal pour-over coffee preparation.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Wipe the scale surface and silicone mat with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the scale in water or use abrasive cleaners. The silicone mat is removable and can be washed separately.

4.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, charge the scale regularly. The energy-saving sleep mode activates after 120 seconds of inactivity to conserve power. Ensure the charging port is dry before connecting the USB-C cable.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface. Avoid placing it near vibrating equipment or in direct drafts. Recalibrate if necessary (refer to the user guide for calibration steps).
  • Display Not Working: Check battery level and charge the scale if low. If the issue persists, try resetting the scale by turning it off and on.
