Setup

1. Power Connection

1. Ensure the mixer's power switch is in the OFF position.

• Microphone Inputs (Channels 1-4): Use XLR cables to connect microphones. These channels feature XENYX Mic Preamps. Activate +48V phantom power via the rear panel switch for condenser microphones.

Operating Instructions

1. Channel Controls (Mono Channels 1-4)

• GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the microphone or line input. Set this to achieve a healthy signal level without clipping.
• COMP (Compressor): A "one-knob" compressor for dynamic processing. Turn clockwise to increase compression. The LED indicates compression activity.
• EQ (Equalizer):
  • HIGH: Adjusts treble frequencies.
  • MID: Adjusts mid-range frequencies.
  • LOW: Adjusts bass frequencies.
• AUX: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the AUX send output, typically used for monitor mixes or external effects.

• CLIP LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high, indicating potential distortion. Reduce the GAIN if this LED lights up frequently.

2. Stereo Channels (5/6, 7/8)

These channels offer similar controls but are designed for stereo line-level sources. They typically have fewer EQ bands and no compressor.

3. Main Mix Section

• AUX SENDS: Controls the overall level sent to the AUX output.
• AUX RETURNS: Controls the level of signals returning from external effects processors connected to the AUX return inputs.
• MAIN MIX FADER: Controls the overall output volume of the main stereo mix.
