Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in areas with hard water. This can affect performance and taste. Descale your kettle regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.
- Fill the kettle with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, or use a commercial descaling solution designed for kettles.
- Allow the solution to soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup. Do not boil the descaling solution.
- Empty the kettle and rinse the interior thoroughly several times with fresh water.
- If a vinegar odor persists, boil a kettle full of fresh water and discard it. Repeat if necessary.
