Teknetics ETEKPRO-SKD
Teknetics EuroTek PRO Metal Detector Instruction Manual
Model: ETEKPRO-SKD
Introduction
The Teknetics EuroTek PRO Metal Detector is designed for efficient and accurate metal detection. It features advanced discrimination capabilities, allowing users to distinguish between various metal types. This manual provides essential information for assembling, operating, and maintaining your device to ensure optimal performance.
Safety Information
- Always obtain permission before searching on private property.
- Avoid searching in areas where underground cables or pipes may be present.
- Exercise caution when digging to prevent injury or damage to property.
- Do not use the detector during electrical storms.
- Keep the device away from extreme temperatures and moisture to prevent damage.
Package Contents
- Teknetics EuroTek PRO Control Housing
- Adjustable Shaft Assembly
- 8-Inch Concentric Search Coil
- Armrest
- Coil Bolt and Nut
- Instruction Manual
Setup
1. Assembly
- Attach the search coil to the lower stem using the provided coil bolt and nut. Ensure it is securely fastened but not overtightened.
- Insert the lower stem into the middle stem, adjusting the length to a comfortable position.
- Slide the upper stem (with the control housing and armrest) onto the middle stem. Secure all sections with the locking collars.
- Wrap the search coil cable snugly around the stem, leaving enough slack for the coil to pivot. Plug the cable into the connector on the control housing.
2. Battery Installation
The EuroTek PRO requires one 9V battery (not included). To install:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the control housing.
- Slide the battery cover off.
- Connect a new 9V alkaline battery to the terminal.
- Place the battery into the compartment and replace the cover.

Operating
1. Power On/Off
Press and hold the red power button on the control panel to turn the detector on or off.
2. Understanding the Display
The LCD screen displays target identification, depth, sensitivity, discrimination settings, and battery status.

Image: Close-up view of the Teknetics EuroTek PRO control panel, showing the LCD screen with various indicators and control buttons.
- Fe Tone (Adjustable Iron Audio): Allows you to set the volume of ferrous targets lower than non-ferrous targets for clearer target identification.
- Iron ID Indicator: Illuminates when the search coil passes over iron, regardless of discrimination settings.
- Target ID Numbers: Provide a numerical value to help identify the type of metal detected.
3. Discrimination Settings
Use the DISCRIMINATION buttons to adjust the level of discrimination. This allows the detector to ignore unwanted metals (like iron) and focus on desired targets. Higher discrimination settings will filter out more ferrous junk.
4. Sensitivity Adjustment
Use the SENSITIVITY buttons to increase or decrease the detector's sensitivity. Higher sensitivity can detect smaller or deeper targets but may also increase false signals in mineralized ground or areas with electrical interference. Adjust as needed for your search environment.
5. Pinpoint Mode
Press the PINPOINT button to activate the no-motion pinpoint mode. This feature helps to precisely locate the exact position of a detected target before digging, minimizing excavation size.
6. Sweeping Technique
Hold the detector with the search coil parallel to the ground, about 1-2 inches above the surface. Sweep the coil from side to side in a slow, overlapping motion. Maintain a consistent height and speed for best results.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Wipe down the control housing and shaft with a damp cloth after each use.
- Clean the search coil with water and a mild detergent if necessary. Ensure the coil connector is dry before reattaching.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
2. Battery Care
- Remove batteries if the detector will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
3. Storage
Store the detector in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or areas with high humidity.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
- Erratic Signals/False Signals: Reduce sensitivity. Check for nearby sources of electromagnetic interference (power lines, cell phones). Ensure the search coil cable is tightly wound around the shaft and securely connected.
- No Target Detection: Increase sensitivity. Ensure discrimination is not set too high, potentially filtering out desired targets.
