Product Overview

The Seiko NR434M features a house-shaped design with an analog clock face and a chimney-like button on top. The back of the clock houses all control dials and switches for setting time, alarm, volume, and alarm sound type.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock.
  2. Slide the cover downwards to open.
  3. Insert three (3) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover, sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

2. Setting the Time

  1. On the back of the clock, locate the "TIME" knob.
  2. Rotate the "TIME" knob in either direction to move the hour and minute hands to the current time.

3. Setting the Alarm

  1. On the back of the clock, locate the "ALARM" knob.
  2. Rotate the "ALARM" knob to set the alarm hand to your desired wake-up time.

Operating Instructions

1. Alarm Sound Selection

The clock offers three alarm sound options:

  • Bird A: Features a combination of Cucoon, Lurivitaki, and Komadori bird sounds.
  • Bird B: Features a combination of Sankoo and Oolli Aogi bird sounds.
  • Electronic Sound: A traditional electronic beep alarm.

To select an alarm sound, use the switch labeled "A / B / ((()))" on the back of the clock. Slide the switch to your preferred setting.

2. Volume Control

Adjust the alarm volume using the "VOL." dial on the back of the clock. Rotate the dial towards "MAX" for louder volume or "MIN" for softer volume.

3. Activating/Deactivating the Alarm

Use the ON/OFF switch located on the left side of the clock's back panel to activate or deactivate the alarm function.

4. Snooze Function and Illumination

The white chimney-like button on top of the clock serves two functions:

  • Snooze: When the alarm sounds, press the chimney button to activate the snooze function. The alarm will pause and sound again after approximately 5 minutes.
  • Illumination: Press the chimney button at any time to briefly illuminate the clock face for easy viewing in the dark.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these may damage the finish or internal components.

Battery Replacement

Replace all three AA batteries when the clock's display dims, the alarm sound weakens, or the clock stops functioning. Always replace all batteries at the same time with new ones.

Troubleshooting

  • Clock not working / Alarm not sounding:
    Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Ensure the alarm ON/OFF switch is in the "ON" position.
  • Alarm sound is too quiet or too loud:
    Adjust the "VOL." dial on the back of the clock to your desired level.
  • Time is inaccurate:
    Ensure the batteries are fresh. Quartz movements are generally accurate, but extreme conditions can affect performance.
