5. Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on Water: Fully open the water faucet to ensure a steady supply to the pressure washer.
  2. Purge Air: Squeeze the trigger on the spray gun to allow water to flow through the system and purge any trapped air. Continue until a steady stream of water emerges.
  3. Power On: Turn the power switch on the unit to the 'ON' position. The motor will start.
  4. Begin Cleaning: Squeeze the trigger to activate the high-pressure spray. Release the trigger to engage the Total Stop System, which automatically shuts off the pump when the trigger is not engaged, saving energy and prolonging pump life.
  5. Using Detergent: If using detergent, ensure the soap spray tip is installed. Adjust the detergent dial on the unit to control the soap flow. After applying detergent, switch to a high-pressure tip (e.g., 25° or 40°) and rinse thoroughly.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Sun Joe pressure washer:

  • Nozzle Cleaning: If spray tips become clogged or pressure is reduced, clean them. A common method is to soak the nozzles in vinegar for a few hours, then use a small pin or needle to clear any debris from the orifice. Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
  • Pump Protection: After each use, especially before storing for extended periods or in cold weather, consider using a pump protector lubricant. This helps prevent internal gaskets from seizing due to mineral deposits from water.
  • Hose and Cord Care: Coil the high-pressure hose and power cord neatly after each use. Avoid kinking or damaging them.
  • Storage: Store the pressure washer in a dry, frost-free area. Ensure all water is drained from the unit and hoses to prevent freezing damage.
