2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety information before using the GigaTent Pop Up Pod. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Use the shelter in suitable weather conditions. Avoid use during strong winds, heavy rain, or lightning storms.
  • Ensure proper anchoring with the included stakes to maintain stability, especially in breezy conditions.
  • Be cautious of UV exposure. While the tent offers UV protection, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can still be harmful.
  • Keep away from open flames and heat sources. The tent material is not fireproof.
  • Do not allow children to play unsupervised with the tent, particularly during setup and folding, due to the spring-loaded frame.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in your package:

  • GigaTent Pop Up Pod Privacy Shelter (1 unit)
  • Carry Bag (1 unit)
  • Ground Stakes (4 units)

4. Setup Instructions

The GigaTent Pop Up Pod is designed for instant setup. Follow these steps:

  1. Unpack: Remove the Pop Up Pod from its carry bag. Hold it away from your face and body as it is spring-loaded and will expand rapidly.
  2. Pop Up: The tent will automatically spring into its full shape. Gently adjust the frame to ensure it is fully extended and stable.
  3. Position: Place the tent on a flat, clear surface.
  4. Secure (Recommended): For added stability, especially in outdoor conditions, use the included ground stakes. Locate the nylon loops at the base of the tent and insert a stake through each loop, pushing it firmly into the ground.

5. Operating the Pop Up Pod

The Pop Up Pod offers versatile functionality:

5.1. Changing Room

Use the tent as a private changing area at the beach, campsite, or any outdoor event. The full-length zipper provides easy access, and the opaque material ensures privacy. The door can be rolled up and secured with toggles for ventilation or when not in use.

5.2. Shower Tent

The water-resistant material makes it suitable for outdoor showers. Ensure the tent is properly staked down, especially if using a hanging shower bag, to prevent tipping. Note that there is no dedicated opening for a shower head, so entry and exit will be through the main door.

5.3. Camp Toilet Enclosure

The Pop Up Pod provides a discreet enclosure for a portable camp toilet. Its dimensions are sufficient to accommodate most portable toilet units and allow for comfortable use.

6. Maintenance and Storage

6.1. Cleaning

Clean the tent with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the fabric and water-resistant coating. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before folding and storing.

6.2. Drying

Always ensure the tent is completely dry before folding and storing it. Storing a damp tent can lead to mildew, odor, and material degradation.

6.3. Folding and Storage

Folding the Pop Up Pod back into its compact carry bag requires a specific technique. While it may take practice, the general steps involve twisting the tent into a figure-eight shape to collapse the frame into three overlapping circles. Once folded, secure it with the elastic strap and place it back into the carry bag. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Folding: The folding mechanism can be challenging initially. Practice the twisting motion (figure-eight) several times. Many users find it easier to stand the tent upright and bring the top and bottom edges together, then manipulate the curved middle section until it forms three overlapping circles. Online video tutorials may also provide visual guidance.
  • Lack of Stability in Wind: The Pop Up Pod is lightweight. Always use the included ground stakes to anchor the tent. For stronger winds, consider adding additional guy lines (not included) to the nylon loops at the top of the tent for enhanced stability. If possible, position the tent in a sheltered area.
  • Limited Visibility/Privacy: The tent material is designed for privacy. If you experience transparency issues, especially in bright sunlight, ensure the tent fabric is taut and not stretched thin. The material is generally opaque enough for privacy.
