Important Safety Instructions

• Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster as they may create a risk of fire or electric shock.
• A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
• Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
• Do not operate unattended.
• Always remove the crumb tray and clean it regularly. Do not allow crumbs to accumulate.

Setup

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Remove any protective film or stickers from the toaster.
2. Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from walls, curtains, and other flammable materials. Ensure there is adequate space around the toaster for ventilation.
3. First Use: Before toasting food for the first time, operate the toaster without bread for a few cycles at the highest setting. This will burn off any manufacturing residues and eliminate initial odors. Ensure the area is well-ventilated during this process.
4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Basic Toasting:

1. Insert Food: Place up to four slices of bread, waffles, or similar items into the toasting slots.
2. Select Shade: Turn the browning control knob (located on each side for independent control) to your desired toast shade setting, from 1 (lightest) to 7 (darkest).
3. Lower Lever: Press the toast lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin, and the indicator light will illuminate.
4. Completion: When the selected toast shade is reached, the toast will automatically pop up, and the toaster will turn off.
5. Cancel: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the CANCEL button.

Special Functions:

• Bagel Function: Insert bagels with the cut side facing inwards. Press the BAGEL button after lowering the toast lever. This function toasts the cut side and warms the outer side.
• Frozen Function: For frozen items like waffles or frozen bread, insert the item and press the FROZEN button after lowering the toast lever. This function automatically adds extra time to defrost and then toast.
• Reheat Function: To warm already toasted items without further browning, insert the item and press the REHEAT button after lowering the toast lever.

Note on Dual Independent Controls: The BLACK+DECKER TR6341S features two separate control panels, allowing you to toast different items or shades simultaneously in the two pairs of slots. For example, you can toast bagels on one side and regular bread on the other, each with its own shade setting and function.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Crumb Tray:

1. Unplug: Always unplug the toaster from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Remove Tray: Pull out the removable crumb tray located at the bottom of the toaster.
3. Empty Crumbs: Shake out crumbs into a waste bin.
4. Wipe Clean: Wipe the tray with a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
5. Replace Tray: Slide the crumb tray back into place until it locks securely.

Important: Clean the crumb tray regularly to prevent crumb buildup, which can cause fire.

Cleaning the Exterior:

• Ensure the toaster is unplugged and cool.
• Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the stainless steel finish.
• Dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.

Storage:

When not in use, ensure the toaster is clean and cool. The integrated cord management allows for neat storage of the power cord. Store the toaster in a dry place.

Troubleshooting

• Toaster does not turn on:
  • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
  • Ensure the toast lever is fully pressed down and locked into place.
• Uneven toasting:
  • Adjust the browning control to a different setting.
  • Ensure bread slices are of uniform thickness and size.
  • Some bread types toast differently; experiment with settings.
• Food stuck in toaster:
  • Immediately unplug the toaster.
  • Carefully remove the food using non-metallic utensils. Do not use metal objects.
• Smoke coming from toaster:
  • Unplug the toaster immediately.
  • Check and empty the crumb tray.
  • Ensure no food pieces are lodged inside the toaster slots.
  • If smoke persists after cleaning, discontinue use and contact customer support.
