It comes with an installed battery for immediate use.

Key Features

  • Compatible with Bose Solo TV sound system and CineMate 1 SR, Series II and GS Series II home theater speaker systems.
  • Universal remote control utilizing infrared signals.
  • Controls both the Solo sound system or CineMate speaker system and a wide range of video components attached to your TV.

Getting Started: Setup

Battery Installation

Your Bose Universal Remote comes with batteries pre-installed. If you need to replace them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote.
  2. Slide the cover off.
  3. Insert two (2) AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

Programming the Remote

The Bose Universal Remote can be programmed to control various devices such as your TV, cable/satellite box, Blu-ray/DVD player, VCR, and auxiliary devices. Programming typically involves entering specific codes for your devices.

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program (e.g., your TV).
  2. Press and hold the Setup button on the remote until the device buttons (TV, CBL/SAT, BD/DVD, VCR, AUX) light up.
  3. Press the device button you want to program (e.g., TV). The button will remain lit.
  4. Enter the 4-digit code for your device's brand. A list of common codes can usually be found in a separate code booklet or online support resources from Bose. If your equipment is newer, try codes listed towards the end of the code list.
  5. Point the remote at the device and press the Power button. If the device turns off, the code is correct.
  6. If the device does not turn off, repeat steps 4-5 with the next code for your brand until the device responds.
  7. Once programmed, test other functions like volume, channel, and input to ensure full compatibility.

Note: Programming can take approximately 15 minutes per device. Some older or very new devices may require additional steps or may not be fully compatible.

Cleaning the Remote

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your remote control:

  • Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or sprays directly on the remote.
  • Avoid excessive moisture.

Battery Care

If the remote's performance degrades or buttons become unresponsive, it may be time to replace the batteries. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AA alkaline batteries. Remove batteries if the remote will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Remote not responding or inconsistent operation.
  • Check batteries. Replace if low or depleted.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the device's sensor.
  • Verify you have selected the correct device button (e.g., TV, CBL/SAT).
Device not programming or not all functions work.
  • Ensure you are using the correct programming code for your device's brand and model. Try alternative codes if the first one doesn't work.
  • Some advanced or unique functions of certain devices may not be supported by a universal remote.
  • Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the device during programming.

This remote model may not fully support direct input of sub-channels (e.g., .1, .2). You may need to enter the main channel number (e.g., 3) and then use the Channel Up/Down buttons to navigate to the sub-channel, or use your original device remote for specific digital channel entry.

Specific buttons (e.g., Input, Channel) stop working.
  • Re-program the affected device.
  • Check for any physical damage or debris under the buttons.
  • Ensure batteries are fresh and properly inserted.
