3.2 On-the-Fly DPI Switching
The mouse allows for instant in-game sensitivity switching. You can configure up to five DPI levels, ranging from 200 DPI for precise targeting to 8200 DPI for rapid maneuvers. Use the dedicated DPI adjustment buttons (typically located near the scroll wheel) to cycle through your preset sensitivity levels.
3.3 Dual-Mode Scroll Wheel
The G500s is equipped with a dual-mode scroll wheel:
- Click-to-Click Mode: Provides precise, tactile feedback for weapon selection or navigating menus.
- Hyper-Fast Scrolling Mode: Allows for smooth, frictionless scrolling, ideal for quickly navigating long documents or web pages.
A button, usually located directly below the scroll wheel, allows you to switch between these two modes.
3.4 Onboard Memory
The mouse includes onboard memory to store one game profile. This allows you to save your personalized tracking settings and button assignments directly to the mouse, enabling you to use your custom configuration on different computers without needing to reconfigure the software.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
To maintain optimal performance and hygiene, regularly clean your mouse. The G500s features advanced surface coatings designed to resist fingerprints and prevent palm sticking, simplifying cleaning.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the mouse's surface.
- Ensure no liquid enters the mouse's internal components.
4.2 Cable Care
The mouse features a rugged braided cable. Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the cable to prevent damage and ensure longevity.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Mouse Not Responding
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to a functioning USB port on your computer.
- Try connecting the mouse to a different USB port.
- Test the mouse on another computer to determine if the issue is with the mouse or the computer.
5.2 Logitech Gaming Software Issues
- Ensure you have the latest version of Logitech Gaming Software installed. Visit the official Logitech website for downloads.
- Restart your computer after installing or updating the software.
- If specific button functions or profiles are not working, verify that the software is running and that the correct profile is active. Some users have reported issues with "automatic game detection" mode; consider using "on-board memory" mode if this occurs.
5.3 Cursor Movement Irregularities
- Clean the mouse sensor area on the underside of the mouse.
- Ensure you are using the mouse on a suitable surface. Highly reflective or uneven surfaces can affect tracking performance.
- Adjust DPI settings to see if a different sensitivity level resolves the issue.
