3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all packaging materials, including tape and any protective film. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly. Inspect the freezer for any shipping damage.
3.2 Placement
Choose a location that is well-ventilated and away from direct sunlight or heat sources (e.g., ovens, radiators). Ensure the floor is strong enough to support the freezer when fully loaded. The freezer is equipped with casters for easy mobility, but it should be placed on a level surface for optimal performance.
3.3 Electrical Connection
Before plugging in the freezer, ensure the electrical supply matches the requirements specified on the rating label (115 Volts). It is recommended to connect the freezer to a dedicated circuit to prevent overloading.
3.4 Initial Cleaning
Before first use, clean the interior and exterior of the freezer with a mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.

4. Operating
4.1 Digital Thermostat
The EL21LT features a digital thermostat with external controls, allowing for easy and precise temperature monitoring and adjustment. Refer to the display for the current internal temperature. Use the control buttons to set your desired temperature. The freezer is capable of operating at temperatures as low as -45º C.
4.2 Loading the Freezer
For optimal performance, avoid overloading the freezer. Allow space between items for proper air circulation. Do not place hot food directly into the freezer; allow it to cool to room temperature first.
4.3 Factory Installed Lock
The freezer comes with a factory-installed lock for enhanced security of its contents. Use the provided key to lock and unlock the lid as needed.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Manual Defrost
This freezer features manual defrost. Frost buildup on the interior walls can reduce cooling efficiency. When frost accumulation reaches approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick, the freezer should be defrosted. To defrost:
- Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
- Remove all contents and store them in another freezer or cooler.
- Leave the lid open to allow the frost to melt naturally. You can place towels at the bottom to absorb water. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice.
- Once defrosted, clean the interior with a mild detergent, rinse, and dry thoroughly before plugging it back in and returning contents.
5.2 Cleaning
Regularly clean the interior and exterior surfaces with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Ensure the door gasket is clean and free of debris to maintain a proper seal. The extra thick 4 1/2" insulation contributes to efficient and stable cooling, but regular cleaning helps maintain its effectiveness.
6. Troubleshooting
Before contacting service, check the following common issues:
- Freezer Not Operating: Check if the power cord is securely plugged in. Verify the circuit breaker or fuse. Ensure the temperature control is set correctly.
- Temperature Too Warm: Check if the lid is fully closed. Avoid frequent lid openings. Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer for ventilation. Defrost if there is excessive frost buildup.
- Unusual Noises: Some operating noises are normal (e.g., refrigerant flow, fan motor). If noises are excessive or unusual, ensure the freezer is level and not touching any walls or objects.
- Excessive Frost Buildup: This indicates a need for manual defrost. Ensure the lid gasket is sealing properly.
