Setup

  1. Determine Needle Length and Depth Setting: Refer to the instruction pamphlet provided with your Autoject 2 for guidance on measuring your specific needle and selecting the appropriate depth adjuster (long or short) and letter setting. This ensures the correct needle exposure for your injection.
  2. Attach Depth Adjuster: Screw the selected depth adjuster onto the main body of the Autoject 2 device until it reaches the correct letter setting for your needle.
  3. Cock the Device: Insert the yellow cocking piece into the end of the Autoject 2. Slide it until you hear a click, indicating the device is cocked and ready. Remove the yellow cocking piece.
  4. Prepare Syringe: Draw up the prescribed dosage into your fixed needle syringe. Carefully remove the needle cap.
  5. Load Syringe: Gently insert the syringe, needle first, into the depth adjuster opening of the Autoject 2. Ensure it is seated firmly.
  6. Assemble Device: Screw the main body of the Autoject 2 onto the depth adjuster until it is securely tightened. The device is now assembled and ready for use.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the Autoject 2 device with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not immerse the device in water.
  • Storage: Store the Autoject 2 in its protective carrying wallet in a clean, dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the device for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. If any damage is observed, discontinue use and contact customer support.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Autoject 2, consider the following:

  • Device Not Cocking: Ensure the yellow cocking piece is fully inserted and slid until a click is heard. If it still doesn't cock, check for any obstructions.
  • Needle Not Injecting: Verify that the device is pressed firmly against the skin to disengage the safety mechanism before pressing the injection button. Ensure the syringe is correctly loaded.
  • Needle Bending: This can occur if the needle is not inserted straight or if the device is moved during injection. Ensure a steady hand and proper technique. Also, check if the needle itself was bent prior to loading.
  • Difficulty with Depth Adjustment: Refer to the instruction pamphlet and the compatible syringe table to ensure the correct depth adjuster and setting are used for your specific needle.

If problems persist, contact Owen Mumford customer support or your healthcare provider.
