2. Safety Information

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Choose Your Base Option

The MI-781 stand offers two installation methods: a freestanding weighted base or a grommet base for secure desk mounting.

4.2 Freestanding Base Installation (Default)

1. Assemble the Pole and Base: The main pole is typically pre-attached to the freestanding base. Ensure the connection is secure.
2. Attach Horizontal Arm: Slide the horizontal arm assembly onto the main pole at your desired initial height. Tighten the locking screw to secure it.
3. Attach VESA Plates to Monitors: Secure the VESA monitor plates to the back of your monitors using the appropriate screws from the hardware kit. Ensure the VESA pattern (75x75mm or 100x100mm) matches your monitors.
4. Mount Monitors: Carefully slide the monitors (with VESA plates attached) onto the ends of the horizontal arm. Secure them with the provided screws or quick-release mechanisms. Assistance from a second person is recommended for this step.

4.3 Grommet Base Installation (Optional)

If you prefer a more permanent and space-saving installation, use the grommet base option.

1. Remove Freestanding Base: Detach the freestanding base from the main pole if it is already assembled.
2. Prepare Desk Hole: Ensure your desk has a suitable grommet hole (typically 0.4" to 2.4" in diameter). If not, a hole may need to be drilled.
3. Install Grommet Base: Insert the grommet base bolt through the desk hole. Secure it from underneath the desk using the provided washer and nut. Tighten firmly.
4. Attach Main Pole: Secure the main pole to the grommet base.
5. Attach Horizontal Arm and Monitors: Follow steps 2-4 from the Freestanding Base Installation section.

4.4 Cable Management

Utilize the integrated cable management clips on the horizontal arms to route and organize your monitor cables. This helps maintain a tidy workspace.

5. Operating and Adjustments

The Mount-It! MI-781 Dual Monitor Stand offers various adjustments for ergonomic positioning of your screens.

5.1 Height Adjustment

To adjust the height of the monitors, loosen the locking screw on the main pole, slide the horizontal arm assembly up or down to the desired position, and then re-tighten the screw firmly.

5.2 Tilt, Swivel, and Rotation

Each monitor arm allows for independent adjustment:

• Tilt: Monitors can tilt up and down by +/- 90 degrees. Adjust the tilt angle by loosening the tilt mechanism on the VESA plate, setting the desired angle, and re-tightening.
• Swivel: Monitors can swivel left and right by +/- 90 degrees at the arm joint.
• Rotation: Each screen can be rotated 180 degrees (portrait to landscape and vice-versa) independently.

5.3 Tension Adjustment

If monitors sag or are too stiff to move, adjust the tension at the pivot points using the provided Allen wrenches. Remove any plastic caps to access adjustment bolts if necessary. Tighten for more resistance, loosen for less.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the stand with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Periodic Checks: Regularly inspect all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Re-tighten as needed.
• Lubrication: No lubrication is typically required for the moving parts. If movement becomes excessively stiff, ensure no debris is obstructing the joints.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Monitors Sagging or Not Holding Position

• Check Weight Capacity: Ensure each monitor does not exceed the 22 lbs (10 kg) weight limit.
• Adjust Tension: Tighten the tension bolts at the arm joints and VESA plate tilt mechanism using the provided tools. Refer to section 5.3.

7.2 Stand is Unstable

• Freestanding Base: Ensure the base is placed on a flat, stable surface and is not overhanging the edge of the desk.
• Grommet Base: Verify the grommet bolt is securely tightened to the desk.
• Monitor Placement: Ensure monitors are balanced on the arms.

7.3 Cables Not Fitting in Clips

• Ensure cables are routed individually or in small bundles. Avoid forcing too many cables into one clip.
• Consider using additional cable ties if the integrated clips are insufficient for your cable volume.
