  3. Prepare Reagents and Vials:

Ensure you have the necessary HI755-series reagents and clean, dry sample vials (cuvettes) ready for testing. Refer to the reagent instructions for proper handling and storage.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for accurate alkalinity measurements:

  1. Power On: Press the button to turn on the Checker HC. The display will show "ADD C1".
  2. Prepare Sample C1 (Blank):

Fill a clean cuvette with 10 mL of unreacted water sample. Cap the cuvette and wipe it thoroughly with a lint-free cloth to remove any water spots or fingerprints.

  3. Insert Sample C1:

Place the cuvette containing the unreacted sample into the Checker HC's holder and close the cap.

  4. Zero the Instrument:

Press the button. The display will show "ADD C2" when the instrument is zeroed.

  5. Prepare Sample C2 (Reacted Sample):

Remove the cuvette. Add the specified amount of HI755-series reagent to the sample in the cuvette, as per the reagent instructions. Cap the cuvette and gently invert it several times to mix. Wait for the reaction time specified in the reagent instructions (typically 1 minute).

  6. Insert Sample C2:

Wipe the reacted cuvette thoroughly with a lint-free cloth and place it back into the Checker HC's holder. Close the cap.

  7. Take Measurement:

Press the button. The instrument will perform the measurement and display the alkalinity concentration in ppm (parts per million).

  8. Power Off: The Checker HC will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity. To manually power off, press and hold the button until "OFF" is displayed.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Cuvettes: Always use clean cuvettes for each test. Rinse them thoroughly with deionized water and dry them completely before use.
  • Cleaning the Checker HC: Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
  • Storage: Store the Checker HC in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is removed if the device will not be used for an extended period.
  • Reagent Storage: Store reagents according to their specific instructions to maintain their effectiveness.
