Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for proper installation of your Water Auto Fill System:

  1. Establish Water Source: Connect the float unit to your water source. Fittings are provided for either a standard hose connection or a 1/2" threaded irrigation line. Push the 1/4" tubing into the coupling at the back of the float assembly.
  2. Connect Tubing: Insert the other end of the 1/4" drip hose into either the hose connection or the 1/2" threaded sprinkler riser connection. Ensure your water source has an approved double check valve or anti-siphon valve to prevent backflow.
  3. Position Float Assembly: Place the float assembly into the basin of your fountain. Keep the assembly level and free from falling water. Route the hose over the side or out the back of the fountain, ensuring it is not kinked.
  4. Adjust Water Level: Turn on the water. The float is preset for approximately 3.5 inches of water depth. For deeper fountains, a 5-inch extension arm is provided to increase the water depth by an additional 2 inches. When using the extension arm, the float should remain level and not be more than 1.5 degrees inclined. The autofill system will not shut off properly if the float arm is significantly angled. Always aim to keep the water level as high as possible without overflowing.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and the water source is connected, the Sunnydaze Water Auto Fill System operates automatically. The float mechanism monitors the water level in your fountain. As water evaporates or is lost, the float will drop, opening a valve to allow water to flow into the fountain until the desired level is restored. The float then rises, closing the valve and stopping the water flow.

This system is designed for continuous, hands-free operation, ensuring your fountain always has sufficient water without manual intervention.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your auto-fill system:

  • Inspect Tubing: Periodically check the 1/4" tubing for kinks, cracks, or blockages. Ensure it is securely connected to both the float unit and the water source.
  • Clean Float Mechanism: Over time, mineral deposits or debris may accumulate on the float or its pivot points. Gently clean the float and its housing to ensure it moves freely and accurately detects water levels.
  • Check Water Source Connection: Verify that the connection to your hose or irrigation line remains tight and free of leaks.
  • Winterization: In freezing climates, disconnect the auto-fill system and drain all water from the tubing and float unit before the first frost to prevent damage from ice expansion. Store components indoors during winter.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Fountain not filling.Water source off; kinked or blocked tubing; float mechanism stuck; insufficient water pressure.Ensure water source is on; check tubing for obstructions and clear them; clean and free the float; verify adequate water pressure from source.
Fountain overfilling or continuous flow.Float mechanism stuck in open position; float arm not level; debris preventing valve closure.Clean and free the float; adjust float assembly to be level; remove any debris from the valve area.
Leaks at connections.Loose connections; damaged O-rings or fittings; tubing not fully inserted.Tighten all connections; inspect and replace damaged parts; ensure tubing is fully and securely inserted into fittings.
