  4. Power On: If your host system requires external power for the scanner, ensure the power supply (if applicable and purchased separately) is connected and the system is powered on. The imager will typically power on automatically upon connection.

4.2 Initial Configuration

The Gryphon I GD4410 is designed for plug-and-play operation in most standard configurations. For specific settings or advanced configurations, refer to the comprehensive Datalogic Gryphon GD4400 Product Reference Guide, which can be downloaded from the official Datalogic website. This guide contains programming barcodes for various settings such as interface type, symbology enabling/disabling, data formatting, and Motionix™ technology preferences.

5. Operating the Imager

5.1 Scanning Barcodes

  1. Handheld Mode:
    • Hold the imager comfortably in your hand.
    • Point the scanning window towards the barcode.
    • Press and hold the blue trigger button. The 4-dot aimer will illuminate, indicating the scanning field.
    • Position the aimer over the entire barcode. The center cross helps with precise targeting.
    • Once successfully read, the Datalogic Green Spot will project onto the barcode, and an audible beep will sound (if enabled).
  2. Presentation Mode (Hands-Free):
    • Place the imager in a compatible stand (sold separately) or on a flat surface with the scanning window facing upwards.
    • Motionix™ technology will detect that the imager is stationary and automatically switch to presentation mode.
    • Present the barcode to the scanning window. The imager will automatically detect and read the barcode.
    • A Green Spot and audible beep will confirm a successful read.

5.2 Reading Barcodes from Mobile Devices

The Gryphon I GD4410 is optimized for reading barcodes displayed on smartphone screens, tablets, and computer monitors. Ensure the screen brightness is sufficient and avoid glare for optimal performance.

5.3 Signature Capture and Document Scanning

For applications requiring signature capture or document scanning, position the imager over the document or signature area. The enhanced optics and high-speed imaging allow for efficient capture. Specific software or application integration may be required to utilize these features fully.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1 Cleaning the Imager

To ensure optimal performance, keep the scanning window clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or excessive liquid, as these can damage the device.

6.2 Storage

Store the imager in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Protect it from physical shocks and drops.
