Introduction

The Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse is designed for comfortable navigation, especially optimized for Windows operating systems. Setup

1. Install Batteries

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse.
  2. Remove the battery cover.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Two AA batteries are included with the mouse.
  4. Replace the battery cover securely.

2. Bluetooth Pairing

The Sculpt Comfort Mouse connects wirelessly via Bluetooth, requiring no USB transceiver. Ensure your computer or device has Bluetooth capability.

  1. Turn on the mouse using the power switch located on the underside.
  2. Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button on the underside of the mouse until the LED indicator begins to flash, indicating it is in pairing mode.
  3. On your computer or device, navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
  4. Select "Add Bluetooth or other device" and choose "Bluetooth".
  5. Select "Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse" from the list of available devices.
  6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process. The LED indicator on the mouse will turn solid when successfully paired.

Operating Instructions

Basic Functions

  • Left-Click Button: Primary selection and interaction.
  • Right-Click Button: Accesses contextual menus.
  • Scroll Wheel: Scrolls vertically through documents and web pages.
  • 4-Way Scrolling: Tilt the scroll wheel left or right to scroll horizontally.

Windows Touch Tab

The blue Windows Touch Tab on the side of the mouse provides quick access to Windows features. Its functionality is optimized for Windows 8 and later versions.

  • Press: Opens the Start Screen or Start Menu (Windows 8/10).
  • Swipe Up: Cycles through open applications.
  • Swipe Down: Reveals the desktop.

BlueTrack Technology

BlueTrack Technology allows the mouse to track on a wide variety of surfaces, including rough wood, carpet, and granite, making it highly versatile for use in different environments. It may not track on clear glass or mirrored surfaces.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Mouse

  • Turn off the mouse before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the exterior.
  • Avoid getting moisture into any openings.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Battery Replacement

When the mouse's performance degrades or the battery indicator light (if present) signals low power, replace the batteries. Refer to the "Install Batteries" section under Setup for detailed steps.

Troubleshooting

  • Mouse Not Connecting/Losing Connection:
    • Ensure the mouse is turned on and batteries are correctly installed and charged.
    • Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your computer or device.
    • Try re-pairing the mouse: turn off the mouse, remove it from your device's Bluetooth list, then repeat the Bluetooth pairing steps.
    • Move the mouse closer to your device to rule out range issues.
    • Check for interference from other wireless devices.
  • Cursor Movement is Erratic or Inaccurate:
    • Ensure the surface you are using is suitable for BlueTrack Technology (avoid clear glass or mirrored surfaces).
    • Clean the optical sensor on the underside of the mouse with a soft, dry cloth.
    • Replace the batteries.
  • Windows Touch Tab Not Responding:
    • Ensure your operating system is Windows 8 or later for full functionality.
    • Install the latest drivers and software for the mouse from the Microsoft support website.
