Setup

System Requirements:

  • PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0/3.0 compliant motherboard with one x16 graphics slot.
  • Minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 24A on the +12V rail).
  • One 6-pin PCI-E power connector.
  • Minimum 2GB system memory (4GB recommended).
  • Microsoft Windows 8, 7, Vista, or XP operating system.
  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive or internet connection for driver installation.

Hardware Installation:

  1. Prepare Your System:

    Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Open your computer case.

  2. Locate PCI-Express Slot:

    Identify an available PCI-Express x16 slot on your motherboard. Remove the metal bracket cover from the back of the computer case corresponding to the chosen slot.

  3. Install the Graphics Card:

    Carefully align the graphics card with the PCI-Express x16 slot. Press down firmly and evenly until the card is fully seated in the slot. Secure the card with the screw or retention clip from your computer case.

  4. Connect Power:

    Locate the 6-pin PCI-E power connector from your power supply. Connect it to the corresponding port on the graphics card. If your power supply does not have a 6-pin PCI-E connector, use the included PCI-E power adapter (Figure 3).

  5. Close Case and Connect Peripherals:

    Close your computer case. Reconnect all peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) and the power cord. Turn on your computer.

Driver Installation:

  1. Initial Boot:

    Upon first boot after installation, Windows may detect new hardware and attempt to install generic drivers. This is normal.

  2. Install Drivers from CD:

    Insert the EVGA driver installation CD into your optical drive. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the NVIDIA graphics drivers and any accompanying software (e.g., EVGA Precision X).

  3. Download Latest Drivers (Recommended):

    For optimal performance and compatibility, it is highly recommended to download the latest drivers directly from the official EVGA website (www.evga.com/support) or NVIDIA's website (www.nvidia.com/drivers). Uninstall any previously installed graphics drivers before installing new ones.

  4. Restart System:

    After the driver installation is complete, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Operating

Connecting Displays:

The EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST SuperClocked supports multiple display configurations. Connect your monitor(s) to the available ports on the graphics card's I/O panel (Figure 6).

  • DVI-I: Supports both digital (DVI) and analog (VGA via adapter) signals.
  • DVI-D: Supports digital DVI signals only.
  • HDMI: Supports digital video and audio output.
  • DisplayPort: Supports digital video and audio output, often used for high-resolution and high-refresh-rate monitors.

Once connected, you can configure your display settings (resolution, refresh rate, multi-monitor setup) through the NVIDIA Control Panel, which is installed with the drivers.

Optimizing Performance:

  • NVIDIA Control Panel: Use the NVIDIA Control Panel to adjust 3D settings, manage display configurations, and set up features like NVIDIA G-SYNC (if supported by your monitor).
  • EVGA Precision X: This utility (available for download from EVGA) allows for real-time monitoring of GPU temperature, clock speeds, and fan speed. It also provides options for fine-tuning performance settings.
  • Game Settings: Adjust in-game graphics settings to balance visual quality and frame rate according to your preference.

Maintenance

  • Dust Removal: Periodically clean the graphics card's fan and heatsink fins using compressed air to prevent dust buildup, which can impede cooling performance. Ensure the computer is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
  • Driver Updates: Regularly check the EVGA or NVIDIA website for the latest graphics drivers. Keeping your drivers updated ensures optimal performance, compatibility with new games and applications, and access to the latest features and bug fixes.

Troubleshooting

No Display Output:
